Dropped the Nomad
Opps, I spoke too soon I laid the Nomad down yesterday, with my wife on back. This was the first time she had been on it, and as others have said went to make a hard left turn when a car came over the hill. and had to lay it down. Lucky no one hurt but did get a scare. The bars did exactly what they were suppose to do and kept the bike from crushing my wife's foot. I was supprised also my wife got back on and we continued our outing. The Lord was looking out for us on this outing.

Dropped the Nomad
Bought my Nomad April 1, 2009 and dropped it while attempting to park on a slope April 4, 2009. Only had 300 plus miles on it at the time. That was 8400 miles ago. Have come close a couple of other times but only the one drop.

I dropped my '06 the first day I got it unloading it off the truck and a couple times after that. Then I hit a deer with it and destroyed it. Poor thang. :'(

Dropped the Nomad
Haven't dropped the Nomad yet, but did drop my '99 Suzuki Intruder 1500LC a couple seasons back. I was going for a ride with my neighbor down the street. Carefully reviewed the checklist: tire pressure - check, fuel - check, say goodbye to wife - check, etc. Then I'm riding to his house and I'm thinking, "What's this windy feeling in my hair?" Forgot my helmet.
So, I U-turn and head back home - about 1,000 feet. Grabbed the helmet in the garage and I'm turning the 800 lb. beast around in the driveway when my wife, who must have heard me return, apparently needs to know why I returned: "Bill............. Bill.............. Bill.............. Bill............. Bill............. Bill.............. Bill.............. Bill............." Let's see...is it not obvious that I'm wrestling an 800 lb. motorcycle backwards, uphill, and with the handlebars at full lock? I now have to stop what I'm doing and acknowledge that she wants my attention............... and down she goes.............. the bike, I mean. I valiantly struggled, but all I did was prolong the inevitable and discover what it must be like to tear muscle tissue from bone. Then, I wanted to have one of those Jackie Gleason Honeymooners moments: "One of these days, Alice....POW - right in the kisser!" Luckily, it just leaned on the engine guard and leather saddlebag - nary a scratch! Almost dropped the Nomad yesterday morning in the parking lot at work, which is mostly empty when I arrive at 7:15am. I back her in the spot, so I do a tight half-circle through the empty spaces, stop and back-up. Like an idiot, I grabbed front brake while she was still rolling forward and in a hard left turn. As Motorman Palladino says, "It'll pull you to the ground like a magnet!" Man, he ain't kidding. Luckily, I wasn't rolling much and was able to keep her vertical, but it really took me by surprise. |

Dropped the Nomad
Dropped mine the day I brought it home. Pulled into the carport all proud and cocky with my new bike. Forgot to put the kickstand down. My two youngest daughters thought it was hilarious. Very embarrasing.
