Welcome from south central Ohio (Go Buckeyes). My last ride was almost 300 lbs. lighter (Kawa 750) than the Nomad but I think my Nad is easier to ride and control!!! I know what you mean about the age thing though (I'm 66) but I think you'll really like your new ride. Just take it slow to begin.

And even if'n ya did get to outnumber us, remember that our forebears already proved that a handful can hold off thousands, at least for a bit. But bein Nomad Kinfolk we aint gonna scrap like that.

Welcome aboard and enjoy. Like the others said, give it some time and that Nomad will feel as light as the last one did to ya. I remember when I first got the Nomad. Boy did it feel big and heavy. After a couple of weeks, it was no big deal. :)

Thanks for the great welcome guys! Much appreciated. Spent the day today at the dealer, 'accessorizing.' Everything should be on by mid-to-late next week. Decided against a Tour Pack, for now. Instead, will put a luggage rack and a Kuryakyn Gran Traveler bag, 17X22X11. Not quite as large as a trunk, but a LOT more versatile and more convenient.
Sat on it and started it up. I was used to my Intruder pipes. Man, this thing is QUIET! That's going to take some gettin' used to!! LOL!

Check out BD's mufflasectame - It's basically removing silencers for just a click up in sound, but yet not obtrusive, and of course while still protecting the environment. Maybe someone will hook you up with the proper link to that thread. If not, do a search for "silencers" ( I hope ).

Again, welcome and have fun!

Hey Smokie,
I'm 58, 5'8", 170 and have no problems with a Nomad at all. Like you, I've been riding longer than most have been alive (Been riding since I was 16) I ride all year and you should be able to except when you get one of those freaky ice storms GA and AL have now and then. The Nomad is a great bike and you can do a lot with it to make it yours and yours alone. Lotta guys have well over 100,000 miles on their Nomad and some on Delphi have over 300,000 miles.
Let us know what you think when you get it.
Ride safe,
Dano
