If you are considering a vaquero or nomads, why not just strip the extra weight off this bike?
Lose the trunk, lowers, passenger seat, passenger floorboards, etc.

I've thought about that but don't think I want to do that.

I wonder what making the tour pack removable does for weight?

You may lose 40 lbs but this is not something I'm interested in doing. If I wanted that I would just get a Vaquero with the different gearing and side opening bags like my 1600 Nomad.

This is a pretty ingenious kit. Trike when you want. 2 wheels when you want.

Gone baby gone!
Traded for a new '16 Street Glide Special. A little sad as my Vulcans always treated me great but had to be done. I'll be putting some VV stuff up soon.

Was it the seat height or the weight that made you decide on the Harley ?
I thought you were thinking of getting a V Star ? The Harley is 80 lbs lighter than a Voyager and seat height is just over an inch lower. Does it feel that much different to the Voyager ? |

Congratulations. You can get a low solo touring seat if you want it a little lower, but more comfortable than the OEM seat.

And he seemed to like his voyager besides the weight and height.

No comparison. Just a different type of bike. The Voyager is a great tourer but for me it was also a lot of work. And after the flash, it's running great. But I really needed a smaller bike for my needs... which is basically local riding with the occasional trip and not having a garage I could only have one bike. Yes I almost got that V Star but After test riding some Harley's I just went for it.

Your absolutely correct. And it's more of a tourer also. But again, I felt it when I played around in a parking lot. Truth be told, I really wanted the RG for the touring but I could just handle the SG so much better. I tried to make the sensible decision while retaining the fun factor. And it's GREEN lol.

I DID like my Voyager and it was growing on me every day. I just felt I was headed towards hurting myself. And my wife saw it and REALLY wanted me to get something better for me. But I will certainly miss the plush ride and my iPod connection.
