Same here with K&N filter and Cobra true duals. I got as low as 25 around town but realize it was because I was a bit heavy with the throttle. If I take it easy around town I get 32-34 with 40-42 on the highway flats. It's not great but my Harley and Indian riding friends are doing about the same. Big heavy bikes.

I was getting about 140 miles when my light comes on, but after my Dobeck install it's more like 120. I haven't tuned it very well, though, so it may go up.

Okay, this is the second time I've done this. Tank completely dry, I put 5.0 gallons (real, real close) of gas in and it topped off at the top of the tank baffle.
On my last trip I got about 130 miles before the low fuel light comes on. I average 3.4 gallons to fill up as soon as possible. With in 5 - 10 miles at least. So, I ride a 2003 Nomad 1500fi. I think this is about normal.......right?

That's what worries me about the Dobek, the one that is still sitting on my work bench unopened. 120 to reserve sucks.

OK
so you have to ask yourself
WHY am I installing a fuel processor?????
For me it was pinging at desert temperatures while towing a trailer.
So now no more pinging at any temp.
Also a little bit more power, not much but a bit.
I've played with it to get the best running and reliable scoot.
detune for one up riding G1.5
increase for 2 up G2
more for full load and towing. G2.5
NO PINGING or hesitation or popping or anything.
Was it worth the money to loose a little fuel economy and save my cylinders from self destruction?
YEP
WHY?
cooler running
no problems
fully adjustable to conditions ( load heat poor fuel )
So if you don't need one don't do it.

I live in a Metric land, so I measure how many km I get per Liter. Knowing that the fuel light comes on with about 6 l of fuel left helps.

I get between 15 and 19 km per l. 19 is when my trip is on 55 mph roads.

Light comes on about 230 to 240 km.

I always use my trip meter. The needle on the gas gauge falls like a stone after the half way mark...

Yes, 358 is very optimistic if not impossible. Most that I've ever done is about 305 km and pretty much sweating it thinking that I'd be walking to the next gas station.

Thumbs Up Mpg

One of the things I always ask when low fuel milage is talked about, is how much air pressure you run in your tires.

Rolling resistance kills your fuel milage. Low tire pressure give a softer ride but at a cost.

If you want a soft ride put the money into improving the suspension, not into your fuel tank.

Save the tires by running the rated tire pressure. The life of the tire will be extended and your fuel milage will go up. You are not going to hurt the tires with rated tire pressure.

Tire pressures are a big contributor. With Avons I ran 42 rear/40 front. The Michelin Commanders I am running 42 rear/38 front and seems to handle just fine.

I have noticed I can run 89 octane even 87. But with ethanol the mileage went down. So even though I have a TFI, I try to stick with 91 if it's non-ethanol. More money but better gas mileage and less chance of attracting water in the tank.

I run the 40-42/38 on Excedra Max tires and always use 91 octane. I know some guys don't but there is a sticker on the tank warning to use high test. My Rocket 3 drank 87 just fine but not the Nomad.

On the Dobek I'll be installing it shortly. I'm starting to get just a bit of decel back popping going down hills with the throttle closed so will have to figure out how to richen the mix a bit. I had to do it with my Rocket.

I am running a Dobeck TFI now. I plan on switching to an EJK soon. Before I change I'm going to check my TPS SETTING using the settings below.
It's important that they are correct to get the EJK set correctly. I checked the setting when I installed the TFI.

TPS SETTINGS:
0.584 to 0.604 volts with the throttle opening at idle
4.29 to 4.59 volts at wide open throttle (WOT)

And therein lies the issue. I have the EJK which Dobek recommended for my 07 Nomad when I called them. I had no idea that I had to fool with the TPS when installing the EJK. I'll have to get into my shop manual to determine how to check the TPS settings.

What is funny is that my 07 Triumph Rocket 3 was the first fuel injected bike I'd owned. My TPS went bonkers at about 12k miles while I was taking a left turn in front of a concrete truck one day. I was in the vicinity of John's Performance Shop (Harley/V-twin) so rode over to see my friend. Checking it out John said; "I think it's the TPS Mike" to which I answered "WTF is a TPS?" He removed it, showed me what it's function was, cleaned it up, adjusted it a bit and I got home OK. Triumph replaced it under warranty.

Oh crap and now I have a TPS on my Nomad that I have to fool with?

why do we have to fool with the TPS?
EJK is plug and play except for the EJK settings
nobody mentioned TPS.
mine works perfectly.
so why why why?

I'm just saying check it. Things can change. I would set it on the lean side because the EJK can enrich it. It may be ok.
When I installed the Dobeck TFI it was too rich so I couldn't lean the TFI enough.

Just saying check it.
