Really sad to hear that he may have been so troubled that ending his life
was a solution. R.I.P.

He's spent most of his life battling depression and addiction. He had been to rehab at least 4 times for alcohol and coke, and lately battled depression. I didn't know he was bi-polar but that makes sense. I grew up watching Mork from Ork. He was completely stoned in the 70's and 80's doing his stand-up act. You can see it in his eyes. But then he stopped doing stand-up and started making great movies (i watch Mrs. Doubtfire any time it comes on the tube), and even his recent show was a big hit (the Crazies??). I'm not a big comedian watcher, but I really liked Robin, Chris Rock, Dane, and the puppet guy. He will be sorely missed. I haven't seen the details of his death, but my wife and I both have advanced degrees in psychology and counseling. We were discussing Robin last night. Since he's battled addiction for so long, it's possible it was an accidental suicide...could he have passed out and accidentally suffocated himself in a self-induced stupor? I hate to think he was in such a low place (like Ponch said) that he purposely thought that dying was his best and only option at the time. Goes to show you that everyone has demons and money and fame don't get rid of them. Hopefully he's in a better place now. He'll surely be missed.

words escape me about all this.....I was shocked and saddened when I first heard the news. Similar to how I felt when John Lennon was shot. ...... something that just shouldn't have happened,...
Robin Williams was probably my favorite comic. I know he had his issues with drugs and alcohol but plain and simple, he was a funny funny man. He will be missed !!!

Me too - that cat could say the damnedest, unexpected things resulting in that laughter where you just can't catch your breath. What a loss for us all.

After George Carlin, he was my favorite comedian. A very gifted and talented man that came up with the wrong answer to a question in his head. What a waste.
