Could be possessed. Need to perform an exorcism and get he ghost out of the front end. Dealers never test for that. :)

Welcome to the site from another NC rider. your in a great area for riding, I'm in the RTP area so I've got a couple hours to the BRP. We need to hook-up on some weekend rides. I usually camp in Meadows of Dan when I'm in the area. Buck

welcome, you said it does it in COLD weather as well as hot. I would not suspect fan if it does do it in cold weather, unless its just loose. Possibilites are endless to be honest and hard to trace thats why dealer has not found it. Good Luck

Good point. The fan shouldn't be kicking on in cold weather unless some really hard riding is going on or there's a short in the temp sender wire. I think that would kick the fan on at random times, perhaps if it just contacts something when going over random bumps. If you can't see any wiring damage, this could be tested by simply idling the bike & wiggling the wiring to see if it shorts and the fan comes on.
Sometimes fans will squeal loudly when cold, and be silent when hot, as the bearings tighten up. I had a GM with a blower fan that had loose bearings but would only squeal when I made a right turn. |

Thanks for all the info. I took a good look this weekend at the front end took off the fender, brake calibers and looked all around. Didn't really see anything that would cause the sound. Weather has been raining since, so I've not had a chance to get it out. However, I had the fan running with the bike at an idle and the fan came on and off with no noise. It at times sounds like the tire rubbing the fender as if the forks bottom out but, saw no evidence of that. I just hope it quits and goes away. It's loud enough for other drivers around me to hear it. Again thanks for all your help.

Just to be safe go over the ft axel.. Make sure it isn't loose! I don't know how these bikes are crated up, but I bet the ft end isn't all set up in the crate.

Hey CaddmannQ, see those two screws at the bottom of the forktube on the left. Are they just a pinch type thing. When I got my bike home after the dealer changed my tires they were so loose I turned then with my fingers. Was there any danger of the axle loosining up?
