Day time riding; high or low beam?

I do have the light bar (cobra) and I run with low beam and spots during the day. When I am a lone bike or the lead bike in a group, I use a head light modulator, and it is wired so that the low beam AND the spots modulate ( you would be surprised as to how many people pull to the shoulder and let me pass ). When riding at night, modulator is non-functional so when the low beam is on, the spots are on. When I switch to bright, the spots go out. According to the local Ga. State patrol, they are wired up to function correctly, and he told me it was a "nice touch" in wiring the spots to modulate also. That modulator WILL get you noticed!

Day time riding; high or low beam?

Like most with a Light Bar, I run low during the day/night since my light bar is on all the time. There are a couple of roads that I will run High beam on though for the same reason Dan said earlier....so people can detect me further out. Once I see them and get closer, I go ahead and switch to low though. I don't have a modulator, so about the only time I flash my lights is when I'm telling some slow poke to get their a$$ off the phone and out of the left lane!!!

I replaced my stock bulb with a whiter light one. I run high and running lights during the day, low and running lights at night.

Day time riding; high or low beam?

low beam..have spots. If I , for some reason, have the highs on I always dim them when coming up behind another vehicle. Sometimes even the low beams can be very bright in the rear view of another vehicle. The bikes headlight sits higher than many cars...so I will turn the handle bar a bit so the headlight is not pointing directly at the vehicle in front of me while I'm stopped behind it.

Nope, if I didn't have the lightbar I would still run highbeam in the daytime. You guys that say you can see the bike just as well with the low beam is because you ride a bike and you are more aware than the soccer mom on the cell phone. Or the 81 year old trying to find the way to the hearing aid store.

Day time riding; high or low beam?

A friend told me to turn my highs on since he couldn't see my headlight in his mirror. The next day I bought a Wagner 60-80 bulb so in actuality my low beam is as bright as my highbeam was.

Daylight = on high with running lights.
Night = low beam with running lights.

Day time riding; high or low beam?

I always run with high beam during the day, don't be a fool man use your high beam.I can tell which bikes are using high beam as they approch me and which are using low beam. It's a no brainer high beam makes you much more visable.(dang, wish I could spell better)

I would be more worried about this connection. Everything I've read about this is they are called HEADLIGHT modulator no where in the rules does it say anything about connecting spots.
When I turn the switch on to my bike my spots come on. My modulator is connected to my high beam. And I ride in day time with my high beam on.

Next time your in traffic and you get behind a SUV or a pickup look at the reflection of your lights on the back of that vehicle, then switch your beams from high to low. When I've done this I can hardly see my dim light, but the bright stands out. So if I can barely see my dim what must others see? My thinking is not much.

For the ones that ride with spots off on high beam you must not ride out in the country where there are all kind of critters on the side of the road. Last night as I was riding home from work 11pm. I had my lights on high and turned my spots off WOW !!! what a difference IMO (not a good one) I could less than half of what I could with the spots on. The spots are there to help you see just like you have a high and low beam. I do ride alot at night so I want to see everything that I can.
