I would talk with the dealer and try to find out previous owner/owners. The Nomad is a great bike and there are many on the road with well over 100,000 miles and still going strong. If the price is right I would probably go for it.
I usually see a few listed on eBay and I am sure some are on Craigslist. Keep checking and see what you can find.

I had those bolts come loose on my 05. Luckily I caught it before the mounting bar did any damage.

There's you a deal from Goldstar. Good things happen to those that wait. An '06 with only 24,000 miles sounds like a deal to me.

Welcome aboard, Im not sure if I'd be buying a bike with 66k on it, unless you get it cheap. If your a guy thats only rides 3-4,000 miles a year, you could still get a few good years out of the bike. But if your a rider that puts on some good mileage I would wait for a low mileage bike to come up. There are lots out there, you just have to look.
Ive seen a few 08's sell for $6500.00 with low miles, but you may have to travel a bit to find one.

LISTEN TO YOUR GUT! Your instincts are telling you to hold out for a better bike, or you wouldn't be posing the question here. Your impatience is pushing you to satisfy your desire NOW, but I suspect you're smarter than that.
I can assure you, once spring arrives and the tax return checks start hitting people's mailboxes they're going to start eyeballing the dust-covered bikes sitting in their garages and start scheming about their next hobby. Boats and bikes will be falling out of the sky -- there will be plenty of deals to be had. How will you feel when a newer and/or lower mile and/or better farkled bike comes along? (probably the same way I would, and it ain't good) I advise hanging in there just a little bit longer. The right deal WILL come along, and it'll be so obvious you won't need our opinion. Good luck, Kevin Login or Register to Remove Ads |

I don't know if this bike is a good deal or not but there's always a better bike, better deal, better anything out there. I paid too much for mine and I've paid WAY more for my fairing project (which still isn't going well) than what it's worth.

Vulcanic, I would buy condition not mileage when you are looking at a used bike once the age range you are looking at is more than 3 years old. I say that because a 1 year old bike with 3,000 miles on it is going to be better than a 1 year old with 30,000 miles on it... BUT.... a 5 year old bike with 3,000 miles on it is not likely to be any better than the same bike with 30,000 miles on it. Bikes that sit for weeks or months or even years at a time have special sets of problems when they are put back into regular service.
You'll find 03-04 Nomads out there with less than 10,000 miles and you'll pay a premium for that "low mileage" bike. But you can also pick up a 07-08 with say 45,000 miles on it in impecable condition and well fixed with upgrades (guys that don't ride don't add stuff but a guy that rides will "improve" his bike) for a simular cost. Allowing for variables like maint, riding style ect... the usuable life of the Nomad (and bikes like it) will be about 10 years and/or 90,000 to 140,000 miles which ever comes first. So you keep whatever you buy and you ride it 5 years and 50,000 miles ( which is more than 90% of the guys out there ride) and you are in the safety zone with that newer bike age and mileage wise but your out there in the risky age range for that older low mileage version. |

Thanks for all the words of advice I believe im gonna let this one be someone elses bike. I ride year round when ive got a mount, unless there is icey stuff on the ground so miles tend to roll on pretty quick, im gonna hold off until i find one a little lower on the odometer. Thanks again for your words.

High Mileage
I just got a 04 1500 FI with 30k miles on it, for $4500. but I knew the previous owner, and I knew that he was " fanatical" about maintennance, and always kept it our of the weather in his garage,, and was always polishing it up all the time. Hell, it looked brand new! It was his "baby"!
Whenever I am looking to buy any kind of vehicle, I always look at the seller very closely to try to get a feel for the history of it, You can usually tell if you ask the right questions, and dont be afraid to ask questions! I prefer to buy from a private seller. Thats just me. The problem with buying from a dealer is, most the time, they have so many bikes, that they have no idea of the history! On the other hand, a reputable dealer will give the bike a complete maintenance service, and a safety inspection, and provide some kind of drive train warranty etc. Just my 2 cents... |

Yup, +1 Trosco! And that 07 really came on the show room floor in 06, later in summer, so that bike has apx 10,000 per year, and or about right.
What service it ever got is anyone's guess.

I bought an 02' with 29k miles on it last fall for $4000.
The idea was to convert it into a trike for my wife. The plans changed and I'm going to sell it at some point. If you are interested in looking at it shoot me a PM.
