Tires and size for Nomad

I followed trip's KawaNOW advise:

"I replaced both the front and back tires on Ruby Earl with Metzeler ME880's. For the record, I have installed a Metzeler ME880 size 150/80X16 for the front and a Metzeler ME880 size 180/70X16 for the rear. The performance is phenomenal. And, since the 180/70X16 is an inch taller, it corrects the speedo, which has always been inaccurate."

I noticed a smoother ride already.

Jon I bought the same tires for my Nomad yesterday and went for a 250 mile ride today and could not get over how much better my bike handled. I am sold on Metzeler tires.

I am debating on rear tires. The Metzeler book calls for a rear , 180/70 R16 77H tire with a 4.5" rim and the tire that has been suggested by some is 180/60 R16 74H (1800 gold wing tire) with 5.0" rim. Will this tire be difficult to install??? I have a Dunlop on now and had a hard time mounting it. Had to put it in the sun, to soften it up, before I could get it to seat.

The shop is swapping out my stock tires for two metzlers even as we speak. I'm pissed about the price (I could have ordered them online for about $100 less), but I'm in rush since I've got to get it inspected as well (rear stock failed inspection). Still, I'm looking forward to these Metzler's.

Also, the dealer here has a '08 Nomad on the floor which they just got in yesterday. Very nice looking bike.

Where do you guys get the best price in your tires. Checked "Ebay" . Price is cheeper than Super Store but you have to pay shipping, which brings the price up over there price. Any other suggestions??????
