170K miles on american cars isn't unheard of today. May be it was time for a new car.

I have a 2001 Jetta with 140K miles with the original clutch. The thing won't die. :( I'd like to get something with this in it:

My wife would rather get a 4 door or minivan.

That doesn't seem like a lot of miles at all for the car to give up. We have all kinds here with double that mileage on them, including my truck. The salt really rots our vehicles here in the winter, were just scrapping my wifes Grand Marquis because the body is getting bad.

Good news! I fixed the intermittent stalling issue on the Bronco this weekend, it turned out to be a flaky ignition control module. Runs like a champ now. More good news!! I bought the parts and my son and I are going to fix the a/c tomorrow evening. No more R-12!

Thats good Scott; My truck had a bad hesitation problem, that new plugs, filter and a throttle body scrubbing fixed.

I got 160k on my 93 dodge turbo diesel... just broken in.... now it uses no oil.. hopefully I'll be buried in it!! ;)

It should be good for 400-500K miles, so you may get your wish!
