Bought 00 Nomad yesterday, few questions.

I am amazed at how much info you got from those two pics Mac.
I agree this bike has been in some sort of accident. I think you are correct in that the left lower is broken.
I would have a dealer check it for any front end damage it may or probably has.

Bought 00 Nomad yesterday, few questions.

Is the bike carbed or FI?

That almost looks like a carbed nacelle on a FI tank. The nacelle should go forward and down to fit the tank if it is the correct one.

The Cobra fuel module installation directions call for it to be mounted under the seat on the 1500's.

good point MAS. If I recall the 1500's had 3 tanks over time. 'IF' that is true there could be 3 nacells, but I still think I see a HD like key switch on that nacell.

TC, probably he has more aftermarket stuff, but not seeing more of the bike it's hard ta' say.

I think that bike went down and a mess of stuff was fixed and some wasn't. No Nomad goes down with out diging up the ft fender tip if the bike is in any forward motion at all.

You almost never find a clean used ft fender. I think that bike went down around 10/15 mph, and cocked the bars left, breaking the stop, then jumped and flipped the bars hard right, and broke the other stop, and bent the clutch lever the wrong way at the next bounce.

I bet that wind screen is new, or newer than the bike.

He posted that the key switch is from a Harley. The whole nacelle looks to be, also? That would explain why it's not fitting.

He didn't say the location so far as I could tell. Some HD do have a key switch on the left side between the jugs. I was just guessing. I can't see it well enough to even know it is a key switch, as well as what seems to be a fork lock way up too high to be stock. I am not sure what I see is anything other than what ever it is, it seems to be chromed.

Sure, it was dropped on left side, there is damage on fuel tank, no big deal.
Is there chance to buy left rear guard somewhere beside dealer?

Noticed one thing Mac missed. The left side saddlebag crash bar is missing. Probably bent in the layover and taken off.

Good one waterman. That probably will make a new bag on that side too. There is sure to be tell tales between the that bag and the other. i wouldn't call it a lay over or a drop though. It was at some speed faster than a man can walk.

I rode my 01 down with a trailer I suspect came off the hitch. The ft end on that 01 took a beating at 15 mph, as well as me and my wife.

The bags were totalled but from behind where the trailer tonge punched holes. There was 0 crash bar or door damamge.

I smashed a lot of stuff on a right side tip over, and the bike passed the both of us once were in the dirt.

The rear fender was pooched too since the trailer ended up between the fender and the saddle bag frame.

When I screw up I do it right

If you take a close look at the nancel, you can see a dummy light just above the switch so I think that it is the original. Is the left side grip gone??? Sure looks looks like it.

There is also a chrome side cover beneath the seat. That could have been added before the accident or after if it was damaged.

I forget this is xp and not win 98 and i can look deeper. Infact the left grip is missing the end cap and something brown is there.

I caught the chrome side covers, but they were common on 1500s as stock aftermarket. A lot of guys put them on for the bling.

What are brackets on light bar for?
Is shield around headlight OEM?

Something else I notice is the tie down is coming through behind the rear of headlight chrome cover by the fork?? That cover looks like is damage, I don't think that is correct, as mine you wouldn't get a strap past that.

Better check the whole bike for damage, as it seemd like it has been is accident.

There is a odd ball like something on the right side triple tree plate too. I wonder what that is. Good eye chuck I missed that strap going thru there and no strap would go there on my bike either.

Guys, let's not pick apart a new member's bike. I'm sure he knows what condition it's in.

Scott,
Not meaning to pick apart the bike, just maybe mentioning things he isn't aware of and just trying to help.
