Thinking of the Darkside
Okay, on a 2007 Nomad 1600, if I want a car tire size that corrects the speedo and fits without any grinding or other adjustments, what size would I select?

I would suggest you go here and click on the darkside tire database and see what others have used.
http://darkside.nwff.info/ Also lots of info on their main website: http://forums.delphiforums.com/DarkSiding/start

I ran that tire for 4500 miles then I started having handling problems and I took it off a week ago and put a 195-60-16 on i used a Bridgestone Turanza 195-60-16 it only weighs 21 lbs made a huge improvement. The Vanco may have been a defective tire a friend has one on a 07 Nomad same mileage about 4000 miles and he has not had any problems. Go here http://forums.delphiforums.com/DarkSiding/start and click on tire calculator and you can compare tire sizes with your factory MC tire.

My 185/75/16 truck tire corrects almost all of the speedo inaccuracies. Of course now the odo is a little slow..

Thinking of the Darkside
I’m running a 175/75/16 Vredestein tire on my 05 1600 nomad, I’ve got about 6000 miles on it and I really like the way it rides and handles can’t really tell the difference in the turns as that was a concern for me as this was my first experience with a CT on a motorcycle. It corrected my speedometer by about 3 mph but it also raised the back of the bike by about ¼” so if your short this could be a concern, I’m running the tire pressure at 32-34 PSI as this seem to be the best pressure for the weight I am hauling, sometimes 2 up, the only negative I have found with this tire is at a higher tire pressure it didn’t track well if there were sizeable
Parallel ridges in the road but lowering the tire pressure 34 Psi took care of that. This tire still looks as new as the day I installed it, my only regret is I didn’t install a CT sooner. This is the web site that I ordered my tire from they are in Lansing, MI. http://www.tiresbyweb.com/tbw_tirese...ESTEIN%20TIRES This in some interesting information Wompus http://www.vulcanbagger.com/phpBB3/v...ic.php?t=12310

I called the tire store and they have stock on the Vredestein tire, $153.00 and free shipping in the USA as well. However they will only ship to Canada via UPS which is not worth doing here with the brokerage charges and taxes. I'll have to see about possibly having one shipped to the Buffalo NY area, and ride down to pick it up.

Just curious Steve, how does that work when you get to customs and have a spare tire straped to your passenger backrest ???
Do you have to pay anthing?

I know the 195/60 fits a 1500 no grinding.
I run that tire as does Flavor on the 1600. No speedo correction what so ever, and I prefer the error of 10% which is easy in mind, what little I have. For 1600 IMO the 205 wide is just too wide but it works for others. I agree rocks are not a big issue, but then Murphy practically lives in my hip pocket. After reading about a rider somewhere on line who did, I know if anyone else can it would be me.

I guess I could look into a 195/60/16 as well, that may be easier to get here in Canada. Im assuming the Dunlop SP5000 is the popular choice in that size.

I'll keep you guys posted as I go. One thing I read on another forum was that the Goldwing darksider guys seem to think that 39-44 lbs is where the bikes like to have its tire inflated. thats at lot more than the 28-32 that the Nomad guys like to use.
