Wow, the one I test rode I couldn't hear shift at all. It was actually the first thing I noticed about the bike.

Had mine about a year now and love it. I rode the good old American made machine for a long time, but got tired of my wallet clunking along with the shifter! They are great bikes, no regrets at all espeically when I blast by the HD's on the freeway with the wife on the back and we're not much off idle.

The smoothness of the shifter. (My other touring bikes all had a clunk when you shifted them.)

You sure you were riding a Nomad?
Clunk free here, although, need to pay a little attention with 1st to 2nd

Maybe it's because I was so use to the heavy clunk of the Yamahas and the Hondas that I have owned.

My brother's Road Glide shifts like a farm tractor. Big time clunk on every gear.
My Nomad is like butter. The only thing I've ever noticed is, like Ells said, when you shift from first to second, mean it.

The guy I bought this bike from had these lights put on. I had the dealer put some on my 99 Nomad, I assuming they were fire and steel, but not sure.
