I don't plan on installing the Software unless I find a compelling reason too!
Computers I have bought in the past have been lousy with trial software. This Toshiba really only had 3 things I didn't need: NetZero, Microsoft Office 2007 (I recently bought MS Office 2007 Enterprise through work), and Norton Internet Security (I have an application I already use). It also came with Quickbooks, but I haven't decided if I am going to use that yet.

Other than a couple of hardware compatibility issues, it hasn't been a bad experience.

I removed Norton and installed Webroot which I purchased with the laptop. Also removed the Microsoft Office 2007 trial version and will install 2007 tonight. Only thing I don't like so far is the very limited battery life. Maybe 4 hours at the longest.

4 hours is pretty darn good unless you purchased it with a 12-cell battery.

4 hours indeed is good! I onlly get 3 hours and that's with the un-plugged power profile turned down to minimum!!

Toshiba says between 3 and 4 hours. I'm sure it won't last that long working with it constantly rather than just sitting there idle. Still learning Windows 7. It's running the 64 bit. I'll have to order a carrying bag for it from Toshiba direct. No local stores stock those for the 18.4" laptops. I don't know if it will fit in one of my saddlebags in the carry bag. This thing is pretty big.

That's why I stayed with the 15.6" model. I know it will fit in either saddlebag or my tourpak. I get about 3.5 hours usage on the battery on my Toshiba.

I use a Mac 95% of the time. I don't game, but use a PC for stuff at work that requires it (some switches and phone equipment). Windows 7 is a step in the right direction for MS. It is better than XP and Vista.

I have tried Linux too. I really like OpenSuse. It's almost good enough to use, and if I got another computer, I might order one with it preloaded. I won't subsidize MS.

Snow Leopard has been ok. I find I have o reboot more often than I did with leopard, as it gets slow and has some memory issues with video artifacts. May be they'll get it right by .4 or .5. It seems to love memory too. We had to upgrade our directory servers to 12 gig minimum when we went to Snow Leopard Server.

By the way, I just bought a MacBook Air in November. I feel kinda like the Darksiders who say . . . I only wish I had done it sooner.
In my line of work, I've been both a Mac and PC guy for many years. No doubt, Mac is more stable and superior in many ways, but if you like to game, you pretty much have to go PC. I had to have two laptops for a long time. Once they released the Intel Mac, I was able to go with just one. I now have a MacBook Pro running both Snow Leopard and Windows XP Pro. Actually, I have 2 MacBook Pros, one for personal use with a 17" screen, and one for work with a 15" screen. Will be going to Windows 7 soon, although we have been running it on several of our machines successfully since it came out. I just haven't had the time to upgrade mine yet.
My sons just bought me a new tower PC for Christmas for home. Pretty screaming machine that will run Windows 7. Should be delivered this week.

Mitch I'm going to bet it doesn't fit in the saddlebags. I have my 15.6 inch in a Swiss Army PC bag that exactly fits my Toshiba perfectly and I have to really work at angling it in the saddlebag to fit! It does but it takes me about 30 seconds of freeking around with it until it tucks in.

Does that clean all the Crap out?

Why on a new PC and not an old PC? ???
Too tough to knock the crap outta an old one?

You could run in on an old one. All it does as "revo" does is easily locate all the software that has never been used and removes it. I like Revo because it removes all of it like .dll files and registry files, anything associated with the program. Simply uninstalling the program doesn't remove these files....

Oh well, I know it won't fit in my Mutazu. Guess I'll have to pull the trailer just to carry my laptop. ::)

You should be able to cradle that puppy in plenty of foam then.

My 17" MacBook Pro fits in my saddlebag...just. As long as I have it in the soft Targa briefcase. In the metal laptop armor, it won't fit. I also bought a padded neoprene zippered case for it so I can put it in there and still have room for my jacket, and that works pretty well.
