Welcome from S.E.Tennessee, I also agree with (1) other who said to go test ride one, I also own a 98 Yamaha RSTD, to be honest can't really tell that much difference in the weight between the two, my 07 Nomad is very smooth but as far as weight, once you get past a 1200 or 1300 on up they are still just BIG bikes. But they both ride different at different speeds just depends on what your looking for. I have however rode a 05 Yamaha RSV and it rides ALOT diferent than the RSTD? Hope this helps. Goose

Welcome from Alabama, The Heart of Dixie. The Nomad is a little heavy but it is well balanced. Easy to handle and smooth riding.

I thank all of you for your replies. On my way moving to California, I bought a 2005 Nomad. My first ride on it will be a 500 mile trip home when I go to pick it up within the next three weeks. I haven't even ridden it yet! But I am convinced that this will be a good purchase. Thank you for your input.

Welcome from Pa. I had a 2004 - 1100 Sabre before I purchased my Nomad. Did not have much of a problem getting use to the Nomad.

Welcome from North Carolina.
You will find the Nomad to your liking... I am 73 years old and it is not too heavy for me, though I struggle some when in parking lots...I can still handle it ok and then some. I added a mustang seat...Other additions were memphis lowers for wind deflection, and phat II risers, 4 inch up and two inches back...at 5'9" in height, I found my shoulders adn arms aching with the stock riser...Now it is fine..Also the seat has a built in backrest, a must for me.. (I have a really nice 08 suzuki C50T 800 cc cruiser, which is only 600 pounds and just the right size for me, and very nimble, but the Nomad is so much more pleasant to ride that I am keeping it and selling the Suki) Best wishes..
