Extended Warranty, still deciding ?

Got my extended warranty off ebay--very cheap insurance and after 5 years and I want to sell, a great selling point.

Extended Warranty, still deciding ?

I try not to buy things where an extended warranty is expected to pay off. Although, can't put a price on that warm fuzzy that comes with a warranty. So far so good without one for my Nomad, but then again, it was never eligible since was out of warranty when I got it. Now if you are going to rack up a ton of miles each year it makes the most sense.

I recently purchased one. Dealer finance mgr (new guy) didn't believe me when I told him ebay price until he looked it up and then matched it.
Also, dealership owner told me on trade, they factor in 100.00 to value of trade in for every year left on warranty.
Probably BS but should make selling to an individual more attractive.

I did the same as dixie. Showed the online price to the dealer and he almost matched it. It was worth a few extra bucks to me to work with someone local.

Same here, didn't "try" to get them to match it, just simply gave them the opportunity to match it by saying I could buy it from you, or from them, do you want to match it?

The salesman went back and asked, and came back with it.

I feel bad for all those that paid $900 for it. But it really doesn't matter a bit where you buy it. It's all the same once it hits Kawasaki's books.

Don't remember if I saw anything about an answer to someones question about
modifications to bikes, say like all these CarTires we've been putting on?

A modification will not void the warranty unless it is a direct cause of the problem. Say if you were to put a 6-71 GMC blower on the engine you would probably void the warranty on the engine and drive train.

The Magnuson Act covers this... A CT will not void warrenty unless maybe it was so large you bent the frame on purpose installing it...

On my 01 1500 I had a trailer hitch on when the drive shaft was bad... The dealer could have tried to blame the failed U joint on the trailer, but it wouldn't have ended well for him.

With the same thing a dealer could blame a bad clutch spring, but again it wouldn't end well.

If you were to add more air and a free flow exhaust with out fuel support that might end warrenty. That would be buring up the engine more or less on purpose.

Had I not had the extended warranty, the repairs to my transmission and engine would have cost $3800 and it didn't cost me anything. This was the second time I had to use the warranty and it has been more than worth the money!

I bought the extended warranty on my Nomad. For the price, it's the best value out there if you plan to keep your Nomad and ride a lot of miles, IMO.

Be sure to know that you can buy the warranty anytime while your original 2 year warranty is still in force - you don't have to buy the watrranty at purchase time.

I passed on the extended warranty for my Nomad. I spent $1200 on a warranty for my Acura TL for 100K miles and I got no use out of it - at 130K miles now. I spent $350 for 4 more years on my Suzuki C50 and it did cover a $168 replacement of the ignition switch during the 5 toal years of warranty. I'm going to throw the dice on this Kawasaki and hope they build stuff in the same league as Honda and Suzuki. Did I just jinx myself?
