What Radio set up do you have

I use an mp3 player with ear buds. The ear bud cord has a volume control on it. I put the mp3 in my pocket put it on shuffle and run the cord for the ear buds in side my shirt. That way it doesn't flop in the wind and i can easily control the volume. I have 260 songs so far on the mp3.

Certainly the HD fairing option is supreme, so the middle of the road seems to be some kind of handlebar mounted speakers / amp... also I haven't really seen an MP3 player with large buttons on it to operate with gloves on... sometime function over form is the rule. ( a large buttoned with Mute MP3 player for motorcycles would be great). Damm, now I need to get a Fairing, this Nomad is getting to be as bad as owning a Boat.
My 30GB Zune has about 7,000 songs on it. I could literally go for weeks without hearing the same song twice. It has a large button in the center that controls volume, fwd/rev tracks, etc. It is pretty easy to use, even with gloves on. As far as the cable, I just run it inside my shirt or jacket, so it's not flopping in the wind. It isn't the ideal setup, but it's pretty good. It also has an FM tuner, so I can listen to traffic reports during my commute.

Cactusjack, is your Zune have a "mini-hard drive" inside. I hear Zune has some models with stick and the more expensive with an actual hard drive ( I'm not a teckie by the way),, my daughter and her fiance (he is a teckie) go to the University of Idaho, I was playing around with his Zune yesterday, he suggested that motorcycle vibration could potential "skip" "scratch" the actual hard drive... But I did like the controls on the Zune, and think it would work well on a bike.

Continued.....some of the University of Idaho Engineering dept. students (senior project) set out to make a Motorcycle Audio Amplifier, (within specific size, output specifications), with help from www.biketronics.com. I spoke with Bill (the Owner) of Biketronics today, he said his amps are approx 3" x 4" digital amps, with a true 75 watts RMS... (then he started talking over my head), but I could atleast grasp the concept that the Ebay $39.99 mini amps are probably not going to put out enough watts to be heard at 70+ mph. Check'em Out.

I put a Harley fairing on mine with a radio from Meijers. I have 4, 50 watt speakers in the fairing. It sounds good up to 75 miles per hour. Invested 200 dollars for the fearing, 80 dollars for the speakers and 69 dollars for the radio.

Yes, my Zune is one of the first generation models. It has a 30gb hard drive inside and has seen thousands of miles of use on my motorcycle and has never skipped, even once. I have it in a rubber case and I think the combination of that and the RAM mount cradle isolate it pretty well.
