By the way, I shipped three more adapters to Vulcan owners yesterday.

I was one of those three.
The adapter came in about an hour ago, and I immediately went out to the garage to try jacking up the Nomad. Worked perfectly. Five stars Bud. This is a must have for anyone planning on doing their own maintenance. Thanks, Tom

Hey, hey, hey. I love the kudos.
I also looked that the 1700 frame at the local dealer yesterday. The 1700 is putting me out of business. The frame is flat and the engine does not hang below the frame. So, based on that, don't buy a 1700. Buy my adapter instead. Hey, it's all about marketing.

Here's something I did to attach my Idaho adapter to my bike. I went to ACE Hardware and bought 2 of these:
"Cotterless hitch pin" I believe they were 1/4" x 2-1/4". They just fit through the holes in the cast tabs on the bike. The holes in the adapter are a little larger than 1/4" - maybe 5/16" or 3/8" Anyway, I found by attaching the adapter with these, it holds the adapter up tight against the frame, so no need to wire the adapter at the front so it clears the jack. Just another helpful suggestion by your pal, CJ.

Hey Scott, thanks for the post on the cotterless hitch pins. I've been intending to stop in at ACE to look for them and always seem to have other things to do and forget. These would make attaching the frame to the bike much nicer.
Also the holes in the adapter are lager than the holes in the frame because we wanted to leave enough room for error to ensure that the holes would line up. We were afraid that if we made them the same size that we could end up with holes slightly off center and unable to line up which would not be good. Thanks again, Bud

Kudos to Bud for a great idea. Just got his adapter and used it to change my tires, do swing arm maintenance and a major cleaning. Worked great. I used a couple of 1/4" bolts to pin the adapter to the tabs and didn't need the wire to hold the front end to get the lift under the bike.
Thanks Bud for a great product for our bikes. Pete |

Hey Pete, Glad that you like it. Just remember to remove the adapter before driving off!! REmember the ribbons on the handlebars.
