So Bill, where are you heading??? What everyone says is good information.

However, the comment about, "If you don't ride in the rain, you don't ride" is only true if you live in an area which gets more rain. Around here, most rains happen in the late evening unless it is going to be an all day soaker so I generally don't do too much riding in the rain. Now what I don't like to ride in is lightning and hail. I rode once in a major lightning storm for about 20 miles. No place to turn off and hide so just forge ahead. NOT FUN!!!!

Use lemon pledge, or use a plastic polish made for face shields

And get some desert dawg carsh bar covers...... Combined with the wind screen you can stay pretty dry so long as you stay moving.

I am planning two rides this fall that will last a a week and 1/2. No doubt I will hit some rain. Also, next year it looks like at least two and maybe 3 long trips (NC and CA) and I don't want to stop for rain unless it a really bad.

I was in a HD shop today and looked at their 2 pice hi-vis rain suit. It has all the feathers I want. I have not found one like it in the general market. I did not buy it but if I can not find one like it by next spring, I will.

I used to play those songs at the Spanish..Portogese border during the night.
All alone at an abandoned gas station...way back in the early eighties..on the road.
Starry night with a lot of wine involved..I'll never forget.

Once my boots get 1/2 full of water, that is as wet as I can get. But when the road is wet I ride like an old man on any curves, very slow. I am careful about where I pass on a straight, watch for puddles and spray from other vehicles. On the 4 lanes I just ride. I look over my wind shield and the curve of the face shield on my 3/4 helmet takes care of moving water out of the way. There is always some Pledge residue on my wind and face shield from cleaning, but nothing else. And what loafer said... SMILE

I have ridden in the rain several times and what I can add to these comments is to wear your rain gear "BEFORE" the rain. Pull over at the earliest sign of rain and gear up because the ride is miserable if you put on raingear over moist clothes. If I get caught in freak rain and get wet, I don't bother putting on my gear. Sound simple and obvious but I mention it anyway.
