A part laying in the crank case isn't much of a problem, as it just sits there pretty much. I have found counter shaft thrust washers and busted bolt head in these before on other bikes. I tend to think its a right side cover locator pin that fell out of the cover when being installed at some point before. it might be any other pin, and they look like roller bearings. The right side cover has 2 of these pins and on that side are 2 large oil drain back holes that go straight into the oil sump.

Yeah, Nomads are terrible at shaking a 1 gallon paint can

Respects to Mac
Mac, I now see that you have an 06 Nomad 1600. I appreciate your knowledge. Sure beats going to a shop. Since the bike runs fine, I am over this anxiety attack. Thanks to all for taking the time to look and think on this.

The next time i was that stunned was when I had to paint my wife's Saab, and a guy I knew sold me a 1999 Ford Escort in stick shift. Poking around to be sure the car was safe for her I discover rear brake drums. That was a shock, but these looked familiar somehow. Then I found the words Lucas on them and knew right off the last time i saw these very same drums they were on a 1959 MGA.. Talk about old new stock. If you want to be shocked goggle Volvo 122 Amazon LOL . If i could buy a new one today I would for a get to town kinda car. That car was good on gas and great in snow for a 1 wheel drive car. I turned one into a mini pick up before there were mini pick ups and made a plow for snow for it and it never let me down but once. That once took a 12 yard bucket from thje local peg mill to dig out that snow, so I could get to work 3 days later, and during that time I plowed 1/2 my drive and had no more places to push snow. Also a real full sized Chevy 4x4 got stuck and quit and so did a full sized farm tractor. As to the 06 16, I bought it used in June 06 with 1,314 miles on it.

Mechanical humor, ARGH ARGH
Yeah, for sure I played very cool and unconcerned when at the H Lot where I bought my H (same guy that sold my H to me worked with me on the Nomad). They were not thrilled and excited and I tried not to use the K word. I couldn't wait to get that beast home, service it (which they would not do) and go for a real test ride. Then I broke my ankle when it fell in my pastor's muddy, yet seemingly normal yard. Now 11 weeks later I am good enough to ride and we have put about 350 mi. on in last two weeks. It's good.
