First weekend assessment... The seat is going to have to go, period... it's not that comfortable, but then I've spoiled myself on the Mustang seat I put on my 1500. Other than that, I have zero complaints so far. It rides incredibly smooth, it's incredibly agile for its weight and size, it shifts incredibly smooth...AMAZING bike! Not to mention it's just plain sexy!
It has a recommended 1,000 mile break in period and the service guy at my dealership recommended I don't use the cruise control until after that period is complete...and being my first brand new bike I'm going to break it in right and follow all the recommendations they gave mt to do so. After I pay the TT&L, I'm going to start it's migration of making it "mine". Going to get a new seat, as mentioned before... taller windshield probably a 12"... I took the highway pegs off my 1500 and put them on this one, but they're a bit too far away so going to have to get some offsets to make them fit better... Going to do the sissy bar/backrest/luggage rack combo on it so the "ol' lady" ain't afraid of falling off the back of it if she rides with me, and passenger floor boards to replace the pegs. The fake air intake on the front is going away and getting replaced with some auxiliary lighting... and I'll probably get the iPhone/iPod connection kit so I can play music from my phone through the factory stereo. After all that, I think it'll be all set. I don't intend on doing anything to it performance wise... MAYBE someday down the road I'll toss a slip-on exhaust on it but I kinda like the quiet to be honest. My 1500 wasn't obnoxiously loud, but it could get a little annoying. This one has a nice low quiet rumble to it, and I like it a lot. More pictures to come when the weather clears up enough to take it out to the lake or something. |
