I might be interested down the road a ways. So far the extent of my personal maintenance has been Fuel, Air and Pre-ride safety checks. All the rest got handled by the pro's. I stay busy with other stuff.

The quality? You didn't understand what it does? You thought you could make one cheaper? You thought you could lift the Nomad with blocks of wood and hockey pucks just as easily? You have muscular friends who could hold the bike up while you work on it? You have an anti-gravity machine to lift the bike so you don't need the adapter?

Be careful with that. I've heard you can get flat spots doing that.

I store mine the same way up on the jack in a nice warm comfy corner. Also makes it easy to spin her around and pointed out the door so I can go for a quick ride if I want.

TC, none of the above. I purchased mine awhile back at the original price. When I got it it looked like about 10 bucks worth of square pipe and some welding. However I realize Idaho went thru the design process and deserves to make a profit from it. At the time I got mine I think Idaho was still out sourcing everything so there were a lot of hands in the pocket book. Now that he is doing most in house he has lowered the price and it is an excellent deal. Part of being a member here is supporting other members that come up with a good idea, if I can afford it and need/want the product then I will buy it not try to duplicate the work of someone else even if I could copy the design and make it cheaper for my own personal use. That's all. |

As I said I was just curious James.
I agree with supporting the members here. I have Bud's adapter and Jay's air balancing kit. I have a mud flap from CycleCat and am waiting for the new VBA stuff to become available. I thinl I am obsessed with this freekin' place.

I'm glad someone got my poor attempt at a joke.
krash --- I'm sure you've heard the rumor for years that you can get flat spots in tires if you leave them on the ground all winter. I was jokingly referring to getting flat spots on the frame if you leave it on a jack all winter. It's just not as funny if you have to explain the joke.

Question for you Jack.............can you leave the adapter in place while riding? I ask because the friend who bought my 1500 Drifter hit a speed bump and damaged his case. He was thinking about something like this to protect the bottom of the engine while riding.

I will answer this but I'm not sure who Jack is. The adapter rides under the frame rails and will not provide any protection to the case. The kit comes with a 6 foot piece of red safety tape that you are supposed to tie between the mirrors when you install the adapter. You then only remove the ribbon after you have removed the adapter. This way you are ensured of not driving off with the adapter in place.
