I heard it was 120° in Bullhead City today. The hottest I've seen was 119°.

Several years ago when it was 122 degrees for several days the weather bureau, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Arizona Office of Tourism decided the high temperatures were having a negative impact on the economy. It didn't help when the commercial airplanes did not have the proper documentation to calculate the extra length of runway needed for the high heat. So in the infinite wisdom of governments everywhere they changed the location of the airport thermometer to make it look several degrees cooler. Doesn't make any difference to the ones of us who live here, once it gets over 110 it is just plain miserable. For those in the northern climates who like their air conditioners at 65 to 70 degrees, do enjoy the comfort. That setting would put a serious dent in your budget during our six or so months of 100+ degrees. I leave my air conditioner at 78 degrees, 24 hours a day. On the super hot days it is recommended no more than a 30 degree difference from the outside air to prevent shocking your body too much when coming back into air conditioning. So it is not unusual for those of us who do not want to have mega dollar electric bills to run the air conditioners at 85 degrees.
This is why CJ, Mark Clark, and the rest of us living in the Southwest start to chuckle when somebody thinks the mid-80 degree temperatures are too hot.So not to ruffle too many feathers, everyone in the high humidity areas can keep it. How you guys survive in that kind of climate is beyond me. Geez the last time I got into the 90+ degrees with 90% to 100% humidity I felt like I was breathing water. I couldn't live in those parts of the country any more than some of you would voluntarily come here. So everything is relative depending on what you are used to and where you may be located.

That would be a problem. I guess you learn how to deal with that. Riding very early or very late, I guess? On the other hand, if I had to stop riding (or voluntarily being outside) for a total of a few weeks a year, the fact that I could ride comfortably in the middle of January would make up for it. I'm still looking at jobs in the south west. Green Valley, Morenci, maybe Albuquerque. No place has "perfect" weather but I still like your weather better than my weather.

There's a prison in Morenci? I'm guessing you would be looking for CO jobs? I wouldn't want to live in Morenci, in fact I don't think many people do, it's pretty much been swallowed up the the Phelps-Dodge mine.

Last week we had a couple days were it reached 92, that was horrible, the past couple days its been in the low 50's here. Wearing a sweatshirt is a lot better than cooking to me.

Can't go to CA, no stamp in my passport ...
and they have a problem with my handgun carry ... and my veteran status ... and my gun store with all those evil guns ... and no support nor remorse for foreign invaders ... and my attitude toward out of control governments ... and my Constitution! Guess I'll stay down south, I'll grow some gills eventually!

I once read that in commenting on summer heat General Sherman is reported to have said that if he owned Hell and Texas, he would live in Hell and rent out Texas. Sounds like Arizona is even worse! Suck it up. You'll be trying to poke fun at us northerners about cold weather soon enough.

Here in Phoenix, they don't say it's hot unless the mercury hits 110°. Today it's supposed be be anywhere from 111 to 114, every source has a different forecasted high. To top it off, we also have a high pollution alert today. The joys of living in a large desert city!

A good percentage of my riding is B.A.C.A. related. We answer that call at a moments notice regardless of the weather. Riding above 110° is still better than riding in ice and snow. Some of our Northern Brothers have those nifty winter motorcycles (snowmobiles). I like the ride all year plan.

Today we're heading to Flagstaff with B.A.C.A. to do an awareness/fund raiser booth at the REO Speedwagon concert. Flagstaff's high today is expected to be in the 80's. We will be able to warm back up when we get home after the concert.

No prisons in Morenci just the mine (now owned by Freeman/McMoran). There are a couple jobs there that interest me. I realize the only reason Morenci is on the map is because of the mine workers. Since I'm relatively anti social, it would work out well.

Last week on night shift we seen snow flakes, not enough to stick. Today high 70s and dust. We get it all. 7000 ft. elevation helps.
