Good bye, friends!

The fact that the Stratoliner is air cooled is a deal breaker for me. I couldn't imagine riding an air cooled bike here in the summer. That's the main reason I didn't consider HD or Star when I was considering which bike to buy.

You see a lot of guys pushing Harleys out of intersections here during the summer.

Good bye, friends!

I'm with you CJ. When I was shopping for my bike, I looked at a lot of great looking rides from various manufacturers, but I really wanted a water cooled bike. Love the Yamaha's' looks though. Sweet looking ride. One of my friends bought one and he loves it. But when we were both stuck in traffic on a hot day, his was over heating while my Nomad would only kick the fan on occasionally.

I'd love to have 100 horsepower, I'd just want them to be water cooled. My bike gets so hot here I burn my legs on the tank. I hate to think how hot it would be without the radiator keeping the temp down.

Good bye, friends!

Hey CJ, just get ya a V2K Classic LT. Over 100 horses and 141 ft. lbs. of torque. $1,500 cheaper than the Strat and water-cooled. It'll eat pavement and ya don't have to worry about it over-heating.

Good bye, friends!

Congratulations on your purchase of the Yamaha. Remember they also make great musical intruments. Just kidding around a little. They make a great bike. That is just more CCs than I need since I am 62 and will be 63 in November. I have got my Nomad up to 100 mph and it would have done more. That is way faster than I need to be riding. I am very comfortable at speeds ranging from 65 up to 80. The law is also comfortable with me riding at those speeds.

Good bye, friends!

Thanks again guys. CJ and audiogooroo have a point, they live in the hottest climate the country has to offer, and the air cooling may become an issue although I have not heard from any of my buddies (one of them a iron butt, having had his Strat for many years) rode in 100° tems and never had a problem. Up here in New England it hardly ever reaches 100, 90s yes (and humid making it feel terrible) but it's a short-lived event up here. I must submit that I would love to see liquid cooling on the Stratoliner but again, I have not heard of any serious problems in hot weater - yet ;)

By the way, motorcyclecruiser.com road-tested the Roadliner (identical engine etc. to the Strat) and said that this bike will leave EVERY cruiser (including any cruiser in the 2-Liter class) in the dust (the V2k is too heavy and the shaft again takes power away from the rear wheel). In the end, we all must do/ride what we really like and fits our riding style; the Nad came close but I can only repeat myself - it IS underpowered for it's weight. The 1700s should be a welcome upgrade at least in the power department. I frequently ride 2-up with my girlfriend and together we're adding about 400 lbs on the ride (most of it from me, of course ). I will feel better on our crazy highways with a bit of maneuvering ooomph :) And remember, in the end it's NOT about top speed - I wouldn't want to try to be honest. It's about how fast you get up to speed to merge onto an Interstate if riding an incline ;)

Heck yes, go for it. Voyager is a great bike. Or you could get the Vaquero. Either way you would be a winner.

Hey, I'm still here. You and your never ending carousel of bikes! Have you sat on a Voyager? As I recall, you are very tall and the seating position isn't like the Nomad you owned. That's the only caveat I'd give you.

Hey there, Scott!! Thanks for the feedback, and actually the seating position is in my favor, I will sit more upright than on the Stratoliner on which I had to reach for the handlebars until I put Baron's riders on it. I will need to get some sort of backrest again, but other than that I like how my position to the handlebar is on the Voyager.

That's great, then. I'm not nearly as tall as you and found the Voyager and 1700 Nomad seating positions a little cramped. Not necessarily uncomfortable, but much different than what I am used to.

Welcome back ! Let us know what you think whether you get a Vaquero (I really like the red one!) or the Voyager.

I am on the tall side (6'2") and would like to know how they "fit".

I'm 5'10" and the voyager fit like a glove. My nomad has more room then the voyager, my 2 cents
