OH YEAH BABY!!!! I like the new Nomad 1700. Top opening lockable saddlebags!!!!! Cruise control, 6 speed trany. I like it. The only thing is not sure of the 1700 cc engine. Wonder what the gas mileage will be? Going to have to see one of these when they come to the dealerships.

If you look on Kawi's website, the 1500 and 1600 models will end in '08, including the Mean Streak.

The belt drive is ok I had it on my Yamaha roadstar and I would like the cruise but I am still very happy with my Nomad so I can't see spending money for something else

The new bikes look great ....the Voyager looks especially nice. It reminds me of my 98 Yamaha Venture. But my needs changed ....I ride solo now and with a fairing this winter I'll have everything I need and want in a bike. I like the Nomad and will never get rid of it. An additional bike might be down the road but I'll always keep the Nomad. What's not to like??

Dealers that still have 08 Nomads and present gen cruisers should have them bargain priced to make room for the 09's. Good time to update your ride.

I'm not a big fan of the 1700 Nomad.Don't like the way the seat runs over the tank or the saddlebags. The change to beltdrive is another unpreferred change.I like the shaftdrive and sealed dif.

What fugly bags!!! I must be the few that don't believe the Nomad needs a 6th gear!! I'm not overly impressed with the high gear (5th) roll on power now and a 6th gear would be a dog. 4th and 5th gears are already "overdrive" in the pre 2009 Nomads... Gold Wings, BMWs, Triumphs all turn a lot more RPM's at 75mph than the Nomad.

BD, I don't know how the gears will play out; all of them down a little and one on top or what?

I do know that there are plenty of times I get rolling down the freeway and try to put an extra gear in there without realizing I'm already in top gear.

Would it be a useful gear for passing etc. who knows? But all the times that you are droning along getting 34mpg holding a steady and level 75mph, perhaps it'll get you 40mpg.

If I get 40mpg rather than 34 mpg, but have to drop it down a gear to pass, I'll take it :)

BD, you can't compare the RPMS on a GW or BMW to the Nomad because they aren't V-twins. And if you're referring to a Triumph triple, they aren't either. The 6th gear isn't intended for roll-on acceleration, it's a cruising gear.

Mmmm.. I like. Finally, top loading bags. I have tried and tried to get used to the side-loaders. Notta fan.

I'll reserve judgment on the 6th gear till I test ride one, but for the cruise-control alone I would spring for one.

Must.. not... visit.. dealer...

Anyone see a price anywhere. I like the looks and would love cruise and a belt drive. I'm definitely gonna drive a Voyager when I get the chance, but would probably go with the 1700 Nomad. I hope they did a better job on the seats. Also on the website they talk a bout a compact frame...I hope they didn't shorten the seating arrangement...the room on a Nomad is the biggest reason we bought one.

I'm really liking the Voyager!! I could probably make the toupack a quick-detach. I wonder how long till they come out with decent sounding pipes for them? V&H probably already working on it.
I'll need to see local pricing on them before I commit, though!

Boy, the '09 line-up is creating quite the stir...Glad to hear that some who have been watching the forum for a little while are getting involved and adding their 2 cents. Welcome Taranis and hungryeye. I hope that you enjoy the forum, and hope that you enjoy the ride.

I don't think I would trade the shaft drive for a belt drive. I have had both and the shaft drive is by far nicer, at lest for me it is. I do like the bigger engine though and the cruise contro
