Go to Kawasaki.com and compare the parts on the fiche. I think the old nomad bags and the voyager bags are the same part number, but the doors are different. You'll need the mounts from the vaquero for sure and I bet a few other parts like filler panels and may be fender. DK. Look at the fiche.

Anyone ever tried or done this?

Also trying to find chrome passenger floor board covers, and a chrome clutch case cover to replace the stock black plastic cover from the right side of the bike, if anyone knows where to find these things, i havent had much luck?

thanks guys!
The Vaquero bags could be mounted on a 1700 Nomad but..... you will need the Vaquero mounts as well, and they require Vaquero fender fillers, and they require Vaquero side covers, and they require Vaquero rear engine guards. The frame mounts are the same so it should all bolt up.
All this would then eliminate the ability to use the Nomad back rest, but you could then install the Vaquero KQR kit and use the quick release Vaquero backrest and luggage rack.
It would be an interesting project if you have $3000 laying around!

As for the chrome covers for the rear footboards, just order ones for a 1600 Nomad, they bolt right on and cost about $6.

Not even close. The old Nomad bags and the Vaquero bags are the same except for the doors. The Voyager bags are the same as the NEW Nomad bags as both are the top loaders. The only difference in the 1500/1600 Nomad bags and the Vaquero bags (other than the doors) is the top mounting hook. That was moved up an inch or so on the Vaq but the depression in the bag (for the Nomad mounting location) is still there.
