Potential Attendance to Rally in the Redwoods.

I am still negotiating with my partner at work on the dates; but he seems somewhat receptive to the idea. He said he had work-related plans but he might be able to change them. He is supposed to know shortly.

I am also still trying to sort-out a rental situation. I have had to eliminate a few of the suggestions right off for various reasons -- mostly based on the type of bikes available. I am short; so it eliminates many choices for me. The HD dealer in Portland doesn't rent bikes either.

Oregon Motorcycle Rentals appears to be somewhat close to Portland's airport. The only bike they have that would fit me is a Softail; if it is available at that time.

From California, it appears that San Fransisco is the closest location that rents a bike that would fit the purpose. I am trying to find something a bit closer if possible; but am not having any luck so far.

I'll keep posting as I move forward on this.

Thanks again for the help and suggestions.

Hey Greg,

Don't count out the Seattle airport Eagle Rider location. They have a big selection of bikes. I assume you would fly out of Chicago? Seattle might be cheaper airfare as well. Or ride from Seattle to my area and ride with us....just let us know!!

You could meet up with Kris's pack early Sunday on their way down to Oregon

P.S. Seattle is about 3 hour ride to my area but I-5 is very boring.

It appears that flights are about $100 less for Seattle.

If the Oregon Bike Rentals have a Softail available for the dates, it stilll might make sense to fly into Portland and ride down with you guys. It appears to only be a few miles from the airport, and I could arrive a bit later in the day... pick up the bike and stay at a hotel Sat night, and be ready to head-out on Sunday morning.

If that doesn't work out I may look into Eagle Rider in Seattle.

Are you guys going to make it to Cresent City in one day (Sunday)?

I would assume so, but just wondered. Just trying to bet my arms around the details here if possible.

Thanks,

Greg

Greg,
If you fly into Seattle early Saturday Aug 20 and get a bike....you could stay at my place Saturday night. I'm about 45 minutes north of Seattle. We will be hosting Mike and Lorna Donahue (Lomax and his wife) as well that evening, as they will be riding down from Armstrong, BC.

Sunday morning early we will be leaving for Lincoln City and you could make the entire run with us. You would be closer to CC from Portland and Schoeney's place....but if it is cheaper to fly into Seattle....we can hook you up too.

We will leave CC Friday Aug 26 and stay at the same place in Lincoln City (Best Western Landmark Inn) on our return trip that evening....then home Saturday Aug 27. Mike and Lorna will be spending that evening at our place too, then riding home to BC on Sunday Aug 28.

I don't think the Bike Shops are open here on Sunday and Monday (to return the bike)....so you might have to jet up I-5 from Lincoln City to get the bike back late Saturday afternoon. Maybe the rental places are...but not most dealerships. Better find out on that front...

Lots of options....

Thanks for the offer Kris. I appreciate it.

I am at a bit of a standstill until I can contact the bike-rental places to see the availability of a suitable bike. That may make the choice for me with regard to where I land.

I'll know a whole lot more on Monday.

I hope this works out, because I would sure hate to have bothered you guys with trying to help me if it doesn't.

So, let me do some more investigating and see if I can't put this together. Hopefully so, and know by Monday!

Greg,

I doubt it is any trouble for Kris or Schoney. Just to have your smiling face at the rally (would really help to offset BD mug) we would do almost anything.
