I smoked too many cheap cigars when I was a teenager.
Have a hard time even looking at them now.

Never go cheap. It'll ruin you.

I had a very interesting ride today. I was hired on as a driver at an auto auction that was moving some motorcycles. First bike I got was an '08 Gold Wing that had been pampered and was in perfect condition. All I can say about it is WOW. Ran it thru the line and parked it.

The next 5 bikes I rode were all cruisers of either Yamaha or Suzuki build, and what absolute, total, complete, pieces of CRAP. There was a 1500 Nomad there that I did not ride, but that ok. It too was crap. There were a some sports bikes there including a Ducati 999,(very nice) but I did not get any of those. Just luck of the draw.

The second or third bike I rode, the left hand grip was a full 6 inches higher then the right. The last bike I took thru did not want to stay running. Got it up to the block and I thought it would be fine. When they told me to pull to the bike out, I gave it a little throttle and it gave one loud POP, and died. We pushed it out. All the others were unmemorable but one. Near the end I got a bike that sounded good and did not seem to bad, until I pulled out. Once outside we could get a little speed. As I got up around 10mph the bike would try to turn left. Not just a little but really tried to come around. I putted it over to parking at a very slow speed.

After the bikes we drove cars. That ranged from 50K+ government seized, "drug" cars. (one smelled like pot so bad that all the dealers commented on it) to a Chrysler I drove that a guy offered $350.00 on. The auctioneer was so glad to get any bid on it after weeks of trying to unload it that he dropped the gavel right then and there. He did not even try to get any other bids. Went like this.

Auctioneer asked for $1000 - $750 - $500 - $400 (all in about 5 second span)

Guy Next to the car: $350

Auctioneer: (within 1 second) $350 SOLD, Driver move it out.

It has been a good day.

Very interesting "ride report".

What a coincidence, I was checking out the weather in Tucson, AZ just a few minutes ago: 101 tomorrow, wow!

Kids Closet

My wife and I did somewhere in the neighborhood of 70 miles today. We started in Catalina, AZ and headed North up to Mammoth, AZ to see the new Kids Closet location. http://community-outreach.org/our-programs/kids-closet The ride up was beautiful and surprisingly cool. There was no wind to fight and the road is in good shape. The people we are helping with this project are a little to us, but their hearts are in the right place. We are very honored to be helping. After seeing the new building and talking paint, lighting, shelving, etc. we headed down to San Manuel, AZ to see the old location. By then the temps had come up a bit, but it was still nice. Arriving at the old Kids Closet location was almost like stepping into the 3rd world. It is in an old dilapidated school that is beyond repair. The state will probably bulldoze it soon. We got to see how the operation works and how this move will help improve so many young lives. Heading back to Catalina, we detoured thru Oracle, AZ and stopped at a second hand store that also makes junk into art. Some really neat statues made of old car and MC parts. The weather was getting a bit hot so we did not stay long. From Oracle we headed home.
It was a good day.

Between going to work and picking up my new stereo I rode 150 miles yesterday, not bad for a work day.
