Reckless fairing (more pics 05/23)
Looks very nice Scott. You'll have to keep the "Ultra Nomad" for a few years with all of the work you put into it. Although, I'd bet you could get some of your accessory money back from someone looking for a decked out Nomad.

After riding in the rain/snow/hail and wind for the past ten days and reading these write ups on fairings, I'm seriously leaning towards a fairing too. Thanks for all the info guys, especially CJ for his in depth step by step detailing..Bdog

I noticed a big difference in riding comfort with the fairing. In rain, it is amazing how it keeps you dry along with the bar chaps and larger lowers.
I added a formed windshield to my WOC fairing and it is amazing what a difference it made. It is the same height as the previous shield but it pushes the air up higher. The result is nearly 0 head buffet and much quieter.

I Got The Green Bling!
Just finished the final detailing of the Reckless fairing. Repainted my hard lowers to the dark pearl green w/candy green insert. Although I put the speakers in, I like my windshield bag to much to part with it, so I made a filler plate and mounted the bag. If I want sound I just turn on my NanoPod that's connected to my intercom headset anyway for my on road enjoyment. I bought both short and tall windshields and heading out now with shorty on for a 4 hour ride to help my son move. Also I took my heat gun to the Vulcan emblem on the stock windshield scraped the old stick tape off and added new and put it on the new fairing. I think it adds a little bling to the Nomad. |
