My buddy's Nomad

This is a link to my friend Jim's Nomad. It's on consignment at a dealership in Mesa, AZ. He's been trying to sell it for a few months and they've written up 6 offers on it, but the financing has fallen through on all of them. It has a 96 cu in big bore kit and was dyno'ed at 80HP and 108 lb/ft of torque. This is one of the nicest Nomads I have ever seen. He owns a V2K and a Victory Vision, and he wants to cut back to 2 bikes. I'm not trying to sell it for him, I just wanted to show it off and see what you think of it.

Nice lookin' bike CJ.
I think the financing fell through as the bank or credit union dosen't take into consideration the accesories he's added. So they figure $9000 for a 2001 is high as you can buy a 2008 for $13000. Just my guess.

Yeah my friend is a car dealer, so he understands the ins and outs of financing. He's in no hurry to sell, he says the right buyer will come along eventually.

I went to a VROC bike night last night and I wish I had taken my camera along. There was a guy there with a 99 Nomad that has been totally customed out. It was purple with green flames and the lower forks and stock wheels had been chromed. The bike was lowered a couple of inches and the 3 aluminum strips on the saddlebags have been removed and the grooves filled.

I'll take my camera to the next bike night, and hope he shows up. This was the most customized Nomad I have ever seen.

That sure is a pretty bike. If I was him and a car dealer, he'd probably be better off putting it in his showroom.

His dealership is in Show Low AZ, about 180 NE of Phoenix. It's a little town of maybe 7,000 up in the mountains. He wouldn't get the traffic he needs up there to sell something like that. Down here, there's 4.5 million potential buyers.

That is a nice bike, Im sure the right buyer will come along. It surprising you say it hasn't sold in a few months already.

The dealers can't give away the big bikes (900cc and up) the smaller ones they can't keep in stock, at least around here.

That is a nice bike.

The overall "market" for larger bikes has cooled-off quite a bit though as the overall economy has put a pinch on a lot of people's descretionary income to buy one.

In my area there are quite a lot of bikes for sale -- more than normal -- particularly HD's

I have talked to a several different dealers in my area; and they seem to say the same... they can't give away the bigger bikes; but the small ones and scooters are just running out the door. I assume small bikes and scooters are selling because of gas prices.

But just think before long we won't have to worry as much about cagers as a lot of them will be riding scooters.

I'd go along with that if every state required insurance for the little bastards. I live in fear every time I see one on the street knowing that it is only a matter of time before some cage driver runs over a kid on a scooter and then sues the family because there is no insurance.
