Bikes dies. Looses power.
Starting yesterday my bike would die going down the road. I could turn the key off and back on and it would fire back up while coasting. First I thought it may be water in the gas but I noticed that my tach would go to zero with the engine still spinning. Apparently I lost power. Flip the key off then on and it picks back up. Any ideas?

First thing I would check is the connections on the battery. Take them off clean them a little sand paper or emery cloth to clean good and torque the bolts to 40 inch lbs.

Yeah BOTH bolts were loose. Looks like the PO put in a new battery and didn't torque everything back down. 25 minute ride and ran like a champ. Thanks again.

Result i would never have thought that was the problem. I would have suspected the ignition barrel.

I would guess about 1/3rd of our prob.'s on the 1500 are electrical problems....like loose connectors, battery below voltage, stators not charging/reg's not operating correctly, and last but not least, loose/corroded/missing ground wires....
After you get use to the noises, vibs, shifting....once you get you head wrapped around your elect. system....you'll be a Nomad Repair God!
