I took a hose and sprayed all around where the adapter meets the bag and got no water into the bag. This was low pressure. I have o-rings where the adapter meets the bag.
The end user would need to put a gasket or RTV seal between the speaker and the mount. In addition something on the threads of the speaker screws would probably be necessary. Aside from that it would only be as waterproof as the speaker itself. The bolts that mount the adapter to the bag are inside of the o-ring. I have not done any kind of "pressure" testing because with the large hole (no speaker) I couldn't prevent water from getting in that way so I haven't done a "driving rain" simulation. I would have to get a marine speaker and mount it up to test it. Worst case is that my o-ring is only sealing 98% and you would pull the o-ring and put RTV seal in the groove. I'll be the nay sayer, I don't like the look but thats just me.
I can also see them getting kicked as the rider gets on and off the bike untill he gets used to them being there.

I am a naysayer too. Cutting or drilling a hardbag to fit a speaker is not something I would do just to get more sound out of a sound system. That goes for fitting amplifiers in a trunk. Just don't see the point of it. I don't like loud pipes either.
I guess TC and I have some things in common :) Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Looks real bulky and awkward. A nice speaker adapter would look like something the factory integrated into the bike, not a big ugly chunk of plastic bolted to the bag.... JMO.

I like the concept, but It would be hard for me to cut a hole in the top of a perfectly good bag. These bags ain't cheap. However, do you offer or would you make a pair of adapters for a Reckless Fairing, that would allow me to angle my 6.5" speakers more toward the inside riding position. Right now my speakers are pointed in the straight out position. I would like to angle them in about 3/4".

Go crank your Victrola, Tim. Your Al Jolson record is going slow again.

Just buy a good set of ear buds. You can listen to your heart's desire without annoying people in the vicinity of the bike.

I would imagine a thin bead of silicone would solve that issue, I would put a thin bead around the speaker mounting area and around the base of the mount just to be safe.

I guess I've just never understood putting sound systems on motorcycles. They already come with one....a v-twin motor.
