Ignorance runs deep in the minds of the uneducated it appears. I'm talking nation wide. Unless you are Part of the South and know the history of the South and the Flag, yelling it's a bad thing, is just as wrong. This flag was not the symbol of slavery. It was the flag of a section of land of people whom said they were being over taxed, over powered by a government that only saw this section of land as a source for products and food for their use, a supply of minerals for their productions needs, a place for tariffs for the support of a high class government,,,,,,,, much like it was when between the colonies and the British government. Was slavery wrong, yes. Was it what the succession of the Southern states about, not at all. It was enough is enough with government control. The Confederate flag is/was a part of this countries history as is Martin Luther King.

I have family and friends who died serving under the U.S. flag. I have family that died serving under the Confederate flag. My family history shows NO slave owners to be found. I have family that were members of the Cherokee Nation and so does my wife. Does everyone remember the Trail Of Tears? We both have family that perished under the U.S. forced removal of Cherokees from their own lands. Shouldn't we remove the American flag? Indians were here first. Land and lives was taken under that flag. You may have served proudly under the U.S. flag and I thank you more than you will ever know. I had family serve under the Confederate flag. I thank them more than they will ever know.

Painting an iconic car and pulling re-runs because the confederate flag was used is wrong. The flag in those instances was used to show the Duke boys were rebels. It had nothing to do with slavery or the war between the north and south.

Bubba Watson's a dick. They made 12 of those cars for the last movie. A guy up my street bought one as well. I know he won't change the flag...., he's Chinese.

People have gone overboard with political correctness. Cancelling reruns of the Dukes of Hazzard just because the General Lee has the Confederate flag on the room is just stupid.

People have to realize that the TV series was from a different age and time. We were different and we thought differently back then. What's next? No more Lone Ranger reruns because the term "dirty rotten Injun" was used? No more Gone With The Wind on Turner Classic Movies channel because it portrayed families who owned slaves?

It is probably good to see these old TV series and movies as a reminder of how far we have progressed as a society.

its not about the flag, its about symbolism. It's all the things some people think it stands for. Whether they are correct in their belief or not doesn't seem to matter, Kinda like the Nazi book burning of 1933.
