Question Warranty Question on Voyager

Took my Voyager in to warranty a leaky rear shock, they say Kawasaki will only replace the bad one. IS THAT SAFE? I have 21k on the bike and am a little nervous about having one new tight shock and one broken in shock?

I had the same issue and Kawasaki would only replace the leaky shock and cited the low mileage (12,000 kms) as the reason for not replacing both even thought the manual states shocks should be replaced as a pair. The leaking shock was the drive belt side.

I spent many years as service manager for GM dealerships and was responsible for warranty and typically they will only replace the one that is leaking.

Those are air shocks right? I wouldn't think you would notice any difference.

Had the same problem with my Nissan Altima but at 75K miles. Screamed and yelled till I was blue in the face. Finally gave up and ordered one strut from another dealership online. They call me the next day and tell me I can't replace just one strut according to Nissan. He faxed me the paperwork that states it. Send it to the regional manager. Still nothing. Last Nissan I will ever buy. Sometimes warranties are useless unless you know someone. Good Luck!!

I had one rear shock leak, left side, at 128,000 miles. Kawasaki replaced both shocks under warranty.

Sounds like they have issues with the left side shock... thinking the oil side of the shock in the dampening side? I looked in the owners Manual and cant find the "shocks should be replaced in twos" but it does say that if they are not set the same its dangerous. The shocks are $415.00 each, if I had it I buy the other one. Guess we'll see what happens.

The leaky shock made no difference to the ride as far as I could tell. The replacement shock has been on now for 13,000 kms. If they replace the leaking shock you will be good to go and the bike will handle fine.

They replaced only the bad shock and rep. said that the swing arm wont twist because of the wide pivot, so it isn't necessary to replace both. ???? Seems to ride good.
