Rear wheel bearings

I have a squeak in the rear wheel area. It's not the belt, I have had that adjusted and was able to watch them do it. The squeak only happens when the rear wheel is rolling. I happens on all types of surfaces. I read on some other ford where some have had to change the bearings out. Anyone have an idea on how many bearings that may include?

Would the Brake pads sound like a rubbery squeak?

It's an 09 voyager, 21000 miles. I've loosened the belt, there's plenty of play in it.

You said squeak so brake pads can squeak. After I changed my rear brake pads they squeak a little but I know they are new so I am not too worried about it.

PS 21000 miles make sure your brake pads are not worn.....about when I changed mine.

I would hate to spray the belt and cover up a problem. The shop tech said he could do that but didn't recommend it.

Try lubing the bearings, they should defiantly last more than 21,000 miles.

While it is squeaking try applying the rear brake. If the sound changes it is more than likely the brakes.

Also try having someone use a spray bottle filled with water to spray the belt when it is squeaking. If if it changes, then its probably the belt or pulleys.

Good luck -

Just pull the caliper off , then spin the wheel. That will tell you if it's the bearings or the brakes.

I would think that if you spray the belt and the problem goes away...well then you know where the problem is coming from and you don't have to trouble shoot the pads and the bearings.

I would absolutly NOT! spray the belt. Spraying belts is a half assed approach to a fix. Just jack it up , fire it up and pop it in gear. As the rear is spinning you should be able to pinpoint where the noise is.
