One of the problems with hunting season is that it spooks alot of deer right out into the roads. I think a good idea would be 12' high fences around every road. Electric fences. With deer whistles.

I have hunted deer for 30 years and taken my share. They are a nocturnal animal that's why I don't ride rule roads at night. They start the rut ( there breeding season) in October through December. That's why you see them more often now.Good hunters don"t move deer we sit and watch. Bucks chasing doe's that's why you see them on the roads that and they are moving back and forth beteewn food plots. Everybody needs to be careful this time of year and NO whistles don't work.

While this does really not apply to riding a bike, up here in rural areas where salt is used on the road in winter time you will often find them on the road to lick the salt. They also seem to make use of the side of roads to travel conserving energy that would be used up in the deep snow.

That's it. I wonder if the whistle attracts deer.

Yupp, those whistle are really deer callers. A good friend of mine lost his wife in a deer accident. They were on their way to meet us and we were going to Americade. He was always making sure those darn things were clean.

One thing I found that works for me are the driving lights. First time I rode with them at night I saw a deer running toward us. Had them adjusted to show more of both sides of the road. Most of the time I see the green dots moving first. That is the light reflecting of their eyes.

Now we are having more and more moose sightings. Wonder if we just duck down we might go right under them :-)

My take on whistles depends..

I have an Elephant whistle on my bike and I haven't hit one or seen one in years!!
So it must work pretty damn good !!
