In AZ one of the test is the obstacle avoidance. I could never get that one in the test because they use a light to show you where to go. You are suppose to swerve into the light, and I would always swerve away from it. I argued with my evaluator that it was like swerving into brake lights instead of away from them, but he told me thats the brakes. (pun intended) It was the only thing I failed so I got my endorsement. My technique was good, I just could not get my brain to let me swerve into the simulated hazard and swerved away.

New Hampshire requires you take the MSF safety rider course if you fail the DMV test twice.

In OK they waive the skills test if you have been to an MSF course. Not sure what the skills test is but I heard it is pretty easy.

The skills test shown includes parts of an advanced rider course.
Anyone riding that values their life should know how to do all of these maneuvers without question. If you think what you saw is difficult, and you question whether you can do it... then you definitely need to take an advanced rider course. You'll like it, and be a much better, safer rider. After taking one, your skills will improve by a large margin. The sad-part is, you will begin to notice the number of people that really shouldn't be riding... and are "an accident waiting to happen". Hey... anyone can get hurt riding... but it only makes sense to be the best you can be; given that a motorcycle is the most dangerous vehicle to ride -- as deemed by the NTSB's records based on "per 100,000 miles". At least it was the last time I checked.

I took an advanced rider course and had a blast, along with learning a lot. I should keep practicing some of the things it took me 3 days to learn. Like the uphill,...{and down}
full lock figure 8. It's something I had a hard time with. Looking back to where I wanted to go.
