I agree it makes a great backrest, but it also makes it harder to get your leg up and over the seat when you are getting on the bike! Looks cooler on the back. I never noticed a difference in handling, but when solo usually put in on the rear seat as a backrest.

Apparently not.. If you've seen the movie "The Grapes of Wrath" and remember the pickup druck they drove out west, that looks exactly how Scott's ride looks when he's packed up!

Found it when I was looking for a tourpak top bag to put extra helment and rain gear in when riding solo.

I have the same setup, plus an extra roll bag that sits on the passenger seat. It's high quality gear and I'm very happy with it. Joe |

Take a look in the classified under accesories. I just bumped up a seat bag I have. It works great but is too large to go on the luggage rack.

I just picked up this bag.
http://www.motorcyclegear.com/parts/..._riggpaks.html Great price compared to everywhere else I looked and supposedly dry bag waterproof.

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I looked at a hard leather tour bag/roll bag combo similar to the ones at LeatherUp.com at a local leather store here. However, the passenger backrest on the Nomad slants back so much that the bottom of the bag doesn't get much purchase on the luggage rack... didn't like that. Also, it seemed a bit much for the 3-5 day trips I go on, especially since I have the Nomad saddlebags as well.
I went with a Kuryakyn 4142 tour trunk roll bag that I found gently used on craigslist for $40. Seemed a good deal since the cheapest I could find it for on the web was $100 and they sell as high as $169. It fits well on the Cobra luggage rack and the slant of the backrest doesn't affect since it is low-profile. Should suit my needs well!

Was looking at the 4142 to put on my tour pak but my full face would not fit thru the opening in it (I know before anyone says my head is too big) I have a Nolan n102 they seem to run bigger.

This is the one I have been eyeballing.
Saddlemen BR3400 I too ride mostly solo I like the way this seems to be able to do either or and integrates a backrest. There is also a little brother if thats too big. |

tour bag
The Lazy Rider Criser Bag is a great solo bag, even has the adj.
backrest pad. I keep it on my luggage rack. Have the two piece Tourmaster T-bag for longer solo trips. For long hauls two-up I pull a 27 cu. ft. Diamond Lite aluminum trailers. All is well. Mike
