kickstand Question
Hey Guys
On my old Suzuki the kickstand has a circular base about 4 inches round so sinking in blacktop in the summer was not an issue. What do you use on your Nomads? Do you carry something with you in the saddlebags to put under the stand? Just thinking ahead for the Summer Login or Register to Remove Ads |

kickstand Question
I got a free kick stand puck at Leesburg last year and carry it in my saddle bag. I've seen guys used smashed cans and pieces of wood.

kickstand Question
Get too nice of a piece for your kickstand-base and it'll be gone some day when you return. That's what happened to my buddy's.
No one wants a piece of wood is what I have found out -- so try that.

kickstand Question
Mine has never sunk in the asphalt and it gets very hot here in Mississippi. I thought it was because ours has a farely wide foot or I was just lucky.

kickstand Question
I have a round plastic kickstand puck that Wolfman gave me at last year's Western Rally. Before that I just went to the hardware store and picked up a galvanized 2-gang electrical box cover. Stays in my left saddlebag net with my paperwork and only cost about 19 cents.

[galvanized 2-gang electrical box cover]
Great idea.. next time I'm at Home Depot I might even splurge and pick up 2 so I'll have a spare and the price is right. |

kickstand Question
I bought a plastic cutting board at a yard sale for ten cents.
Cut it in half and made two kickstand bases out of it. I keep them in the document sleeve in my hard bag. If anyone sees me and mentions it, you can have the second one. :-)

I went with the deluxe "flattened Bush's Baked Beans can" that I keep in my handlebar bag. Definitely not fancy, but it does the job!

kickstand Question
The asphalt gets up to 180 degrees here in AZ and that big old Nomad of mine has never sunk. If parking on dirt, I try to find a rock for the sidestand, though.

I have a 4" x 4" square piece of 1/4" aluminum plate I cut for that reason. I keep it in my trunk.

kickstand Question
On a camping trip I parked in a gravel lot and it rained during the night. Started to sink in but caught it before it went over. Now I carry a puck that someone gave me.

kickstand Question
I use the lid off of a pint paint can. Started using it with my Concours, which had a kickstand that could punch a hole in concrete on a moderately warm day. I've actually never had the Nomad kickstand sink into any pavement. Nice to have it when I park on dirt.

kickstand Question
I carry about a 3 1/2 square piece of ceramic floor tiles that I paid $.39 for. Looks good and I'm not out much if someone steals it.
