Gaspe Peninsula
Hi All,
Fairly new to the forum, but been riding since '74. Bought my first cruising bike last Spring . . . an all black 2008 Nomad. What a beautiful bike!!!! Anyway, went through my 600 mile checkup and immediately left on a 2100 mile trip around the Gaspe Peninsula. Thought I'd share the details and some pics. Day 1 Left Lee, NH, headed up 16 through North Conway and stopped at the base of the Mt Washington Auto Road for lunch. Kept heading north through Berlin, Errol, Dixville Notch (where we encountered our first Moose), Colebrook, the Connecticut Lakes and on into Quebec. Stopped for the night a little south of Quebec City. Day 2 Headed north through Quebec City and on through the Laurentians to Chicoutimi. Poured all the way. Lots of construction and heavy traffic. Not fun. Then headed south back to the St Lawrence and Rivier du Loup. Rain stopped, no traffic, great ride through the mountains. Ferried across the St Lawrence. Day 3 Started off in heavy fog east on the Gaspe. Those trailer trucks coming out of the fog at a closing speed of 120 MPH were a little unnerving. Eventually the sun came out and we had an absolutely phenomenal ride along the coast all the way to Perce Rock. Day 4 Started off by doing the Tail of the Codfish. Not quite like Tail of the Dragon, but still fun. Then headed towards New Brunswick. Ended the day not too far from Moncton. Day 5 Headed west back across New Brunswick down this highway with absolutely nothing but woods, moose and deer for about 70 miles. Down a dirt road and some more weebling through the woods, not seeing another car for at least an hour, eventually crossing back into Maine. Stopped for the night in Bangor. Day 6 Easy ride to Rangeley, and some cruising around the Rangeley area for our last full day on the road. Spent the late afternoon sitting on the porch of our motel watching mother nature put on a terrific light show. Day 7 Back home via Route 16 into NH and south to Lee. About 2100 miles total. Would highly recommend the trip. Pix below. Tom ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
