A twist I didn't see coming

Well, here goes.

My wife comes up to me yesterday about 4pm and says "I wan't to talk to you about something". My first thought.....uh oh. So, anyway, she brings me to the table and says I want your opinion......I'm buying my own bike and here's what I've researched and found out. She had it narrowed down to 2. The Kawi 900 and the Suzuki c50. She then told me we were going to look at them last night.

I will give her credit that she had done her homework and knew what she wanted, I just wasn't prepared for this. SO, bottom line is we hit some dealers, she got a feel for what was comfortable and believe it or not, she put a deposit down on a C50........

From what I have read it seems like a nice bike that many women riders like, plus being an 800 is not to large (565lbs) while still having enough power to ride along with the Nomad.

What do y'all think. Is she insane? Am I a lucky guy? I'm just worried that she will ride the bike for about 200 miles and the new will wear off then there is a bike in the garage that is just being "paid for".

Oh yea, what do you all think of a C50 as a bike for a lady?

Thanks

What a girl!!!!! let mama get what she wants. You'd only be out some dough if she quits riding. If not you'll never hear the end of it why you didn't buy her one!

I'd say she's a "keeper". The C50 is a great bike for a woman. Easily lowered to accommodate shorter inseams, 200 pounds lighter than a Nomad, good power and torque, and a near-bulletproof drivetrain.

There's a really good Suzuki Boulevard forum at http://www.volusiariders.com.

A couple of quirks regarding the C50 (I traded in a C50T for my Nomad) - it's geared low and at 65 mph in 5th gear, it's winding real high. Not to worry, the bike can handle it! If it bothers her, there is a fix for it, the "DJ drive", which is a modified C90 rear end that reduces RPMs by about 15% across all gears. They run about $450, but nobody who has installed one hasn't been absolutely delighted. The C50 requires periodic valve adjustments, which you can do yourself if you're handy.

A lot of us here came from the Suzuki Volusia/Boulevard world, so you'll probably get a lot of info on this.

Good choice for your wife's bike. I hope she enjoys it!

Had an 05 C50 before my Nomad and Scott covered about everything pertinent. She picked a perfect bike for her IMO. Hope she loves it.

Thanks for the feedback. It looks like I've been nominated to ride the bike home so I will keep an eye out for the engine sounds at 65. As for the lowering of the bike, she's 5'8", so that won't be necessary. I'm guessing it's going to take about 6 miles before she says "I need a windsheild".

I'll keep y'all posted

Being a great bike for a women doesn't make it a bad bike for a man at some point. We do have some ladies riding Nomads too, right?

What ^^ HE ^^ said.

I know several women who ride C50's, and a lot of men too. I also know women who ride Ultra Classics, too. What's your point, BD?
