Heads up on a bad Retailer

Normally I don't go to such lengths to complain about a Retailer and purchases from them , but in this age of Ebay, internet shopping and international shipping, I felt that I should at least pass along my experience and let the rest of you decide for yourself.

I purchased some highways pegs from Al's Cycle Parts out of New York ( Ebay purchase ) www.Alscycleparts.co
They looked OK when I got them, expect the package was ripped open and gone through but I did an inventory and all parts where there. I installed one side OK, but the other side I could not tighten enough on the bar because the quality was not the same on all the clamps, I decided to remove the other side and swap clamps around to get a set that would tighten on both sides, but when I went to loosen the first side, unknown to me, the threads had piled up during tightening because of the poor grade of bolt, and snapped off when I tried to loosen.

I phoned Al's Cycle Parts and explained the situation and all I got was Company Policy rhetoric , I would have to ship the parts back at my cost and they would evaluate the parts. I explained that my cost to ship the parts back was working it's way up to over half the original purchase price, so why not just ship me new ones or credit my account back the purchase price? They said NO. When I explained that the bad PR they would receive from me, was it worth $ 40.00? Still no change in policy. I said OK, see ya later and lesson learned on my part I guess. I don't need to get kicked twice by the horse to remember how much it hurt the first time.

Lesson: buy quality the first time and don't think you're getting a deal by buying knock off stuff. I will buy the proper clamps ( those half shell grips that Cad showed the other day and a lot of you use, plus, buy top notch pegs ) Will end up costing around $ 150.00 I'm sure but in the long run you get your monies worth.

Thanks, that's the end of my rant
