Best place to buy Cobra True Duals
I am looking for Cobra True Duals with the billet tip. Any suggestions of a source would be appreciated. The lowest price would be great, but I want to make sure I get them as well. Lowest isn't always best.
The best price I have found is from http://www.temeculamotorsports.com/policy.asp, $475 with free shipping. I have them verifying that these are the billet tip and that the shipping is free and whether they actually have them. Thanks, Michael Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Best place to buy Cobra True Duals
If anyone is interested I was able to get free shipping from powersportsuperstore.com by doing an on-line chat with one of their reps. I paid $477.62 for the Cobra True Duals with Billet tip. They are supposed to ship today and I will have them tomorrow.
If it all works out I think it is a pretty good deal. Best I could find. List price is $579 Thanks, Michael |

I looked at the installation instructions on Cobra's site, they seem simple enough, but I am not sure how difficult it will be to get the OEM exhaust off. I need to get a crush washer. Michael Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Mike,
They are an easy install. The toughest part is taking off the old pipes. Start by removing the heat shields, then loosen all the clamps on the Goat belly (cat) just take your time pulling everything apart. Be sure you get 2 crush gaskets. Also this is a good time to pull the reed valves out as you'll have more room to work, you'll need to replace them with covers. If you don't have them already you can ck. Gadgets site for instructions and a site to buy them. I think Barons have them for about $30 bucks. There nice Pipes. Good luck with them. ;) |

Thanks for the tip. You mean one crush gasket per side, correct? I was not planing to replace the reed valves. Is this necessary? I will look it up on Gadgets site. Thanks, Michael |

Mike,
You'll need one gasket for each header pipe. When you pull the old pipes off be sure you get the old gaskets out before installing the new ones, also you might want to use some anti size on the bolt threads. And you don't have to pull the reed valves, I just mentioned it as a thought. The gaskets can be a pain when installing as they can slip out of place, I used a little Greece to hold them in place, it burns off quickly. ::) |

you can take off old exhaust in just 2 pieces which makes it faster, I had it off in about 30 minutes. I didnt have new crusher washers so I used the old ones and that was 2 yrs ago, worked fine, I would have put new ones if I could have gotten them in time.

I seem to remember reading somewhere about issues with rusting or some other issue on the billet tips. Could have been on the Yamaha Venture forum.

Could you expand on this. I don't have a manual. I will probably be doing this tomorrow, Friday, or Saturday. Thanks, Michael |
