Coaster Drawings
Hi all,I was wondering if anyone had a drawing of the reed valve block off plates? ??? They look too easy to make to go out and spend a few bucks for them. I have searched for a drawing, and all I can find is for the 1500 BUBF, and they aren't the same. Any help would be appreciated!

There's only two bolts & a hose to remove to get the front reed housing off. Just pop it off and trace around it. I'd go measure my old housings and send you the dimensions, but I've gotta split in 5 minutes. This evening maybe I could do it.
Then again, mine are from a 1500 Which engine do you have? |

Thanks CaddmannQ, mine is the 1600, witch would be the same. I kinda was wanting to machine up a set, and then replace the reed valves with the coasters, remove my crossover tube, and install a Harley horn, all in one stroke, 'cause I hate to be without my scoot for any length of time, but I would appreciate the dimensions though.

Hmmm...The on-line parts diagram shows a different (but similar) part number for the 1500 v. the 1600.
Probably the same outline though. Maybe just silver instead of black? |

Thanks, I appreciate it any way, I just went ahead and ordered a set from cruiser customizing. Should be here in about a week.

That's where I got mine. Hopefully yours will be made better.
They were milled on all surfaces, but they were not perfectly flat. The flat faces were dressed in two passes of the mill (evidently) and there was a tiny ridge right down the center on both faces. This won't matter if you use enough silicone sealant on the gasket surfaces, but it just looked bad. I flat-filed mine and dressed them with a jitterbug sander until they looked real flat, then degreased them and shot them with barbecue paint. The come as raw aluminum, and if not painted will quickly pit, stain, and corrode to an ugly grey color. Degrease well first. Aluminum has pores and will hold oil long after you think it's clean. |

Thanks for the info,If they need a little touching up, I'll take them to work with me. I've been a tool & die maker now for around 24 years, and to make a peice of anything flat would be real simple (as long as you have the right machines that is).
I am curious about your bike though, are those exhaust pipes/mufflers on the left side of your saddlebags? Looks really kool!

It's just a photo I faked up. I have a pair of regular V&H Baggers.
