Vaquero custom exhaust project

I can't stop smiling

So I've been wanting to do this for a long time, but I knew the look wouldn't be right on my previous ride, the '05 Nomad. Don't get me wrong, I had it about as sleek and modern as a Nomad could be, but this project screamed for a better suited canvas.

I'm going to put a sport bike exhaust on my '11 Vaquero.

I know what you're thinking, and you wouldn't be the first to give me a puzzled look when I talk about the idea.

When I look this bike and its name "Vaquero", the spanish word for cowboy. I don't see some easy-going, humble hombre riding his horse into the sunset. Or doing happy rope tricks, while singing serenades, trying to win the heart of a beautiful girl

I invision a bad@ss bandido that looks more like Danny Trejo in the movie Machete, ready to kick some butt and take no prisoners :(" title="" border="0"/>

I plan to put some Yoshimura carbon fiber mufflers on my Vaquero to get an unique look and sound, that also sticks with the blacked-theme of the bike.
It'll be blacked out like a college freshman coed at a Friday night beer-pong tournement where they used Tequila instead of beer.

Of course there's lots more fab to do, and there will be updates to come. But so far, I've made an adapter pipe and tested the sound with a used muffler from Craigslist. Here's some pics.

This won't be rushed either. Got to pay as I go so's not to get too much attention from the Mrs. ::) She's already not doing a hat-dance about the new payment.

Proposed mufflers:
Take a look at these models and let me know which you think will look the meanest based on shape and style. Most of them have a carbon fiber body option.

Thanks for listening - Jay

Looks are great and the carbon fiber ones would certainly add some style to a Vaquero. I can't help wondering though what they would do for performance, hinder or enhance, as they are tuned for much higher revving engines.

I think that would be an interesting look. I like the R55.

One shop told me it was a bad idea since sport bikes run higher revs, and higher volumes of air.
I was a little sceptical because of so many v-twin sport bikes that run similar at idle speeds, and questioned how the cruise speeds would create much difference.

Yoshimura sales and tech told me it should work without any negative effects, and referenced me to some pictures in their customer uploads.

It sounded great. Not too loud, but with a nice deep tone.

No matter what I do, I won't hear a thing unless I do something a little taller for a windshield too. For now, the wind noise alone is deafening. I don't want to make it any taller than I have to, but something needs to be done. ;)
