Finally . . . first ride of 2008

Whew! First though, bad news; got my hours cut down to 50 a week last Thursday and then this Monday down to 40. Happened to everyone and wasn't expecting it until well into April. This means I may not be able to get that 2000 Nomad I put on layaway. There is still a pay raise coming very soon and a bonus. May still work out, but have until the end of April to make the decision. In the meantime I now have the next 4 days off. Got a bunch of errands done and ended the day by driving another 1/2 hour down to Claremont, NH to get my Valkyrie out of storage and took her for a really good 40 mile ride. Think the temp was 40-45. Wore my leathers and it felt GREAT!!! Rode east to Newport, NH and then north to Grantham, NH and stopped for a latte. Gassed her up, turned around and headed back. Felt super to let her stretch her legs. Just wanted to go faster and faster; kind of hard to reign her in and keep within range of the speed limit. A few places was kind of bumpy due to the frost heaves, but not like some of back roads I've driven on in my delivery truck. Took a few pics where I stopped for coffee. Now I will have to figure out a way to get it out of storage. No one available to take my SUV back home for me. Ah well, for now my Valkyrie is my 6 cylinder Nomad. Ach!!! They forecast 7 inches of snow tonight through Friday. Glad I got that ride in today!

Man, that sounds like a great ride. i know that it felt super good to get on the road a blow out some winter cobwebs. I would tell ya that it's 80 here, and supposed to be that warm for several days, but I don't rain on your excitement. Hope you continue to have warmer days, and get to ride more.

You got your hours cut BACK to 40?

I get pissed if I have to work 1 hour of overtime!

Just think how great the ride would have been if it had been on your new N'ad.

Man , that is one sweet ride. I know you are looking forward to the Nomad, but that Val is awesome. Glad ya got out today for a while. Sounds like the timing was just at the right time too. What would be a real bummer would be to have the Nomad and nice weather and have to work 80 hours a week. Then not be able to ride due to lack of time.

There are a lot of places cutting back hours lately, earlier today my brother phoned me. He went to work this morning and he was called into the office and they told he's done after 25 years. There closing the plant and and to clean out his locker. Its cheaper to manufacture in Mexico and China. The guys seen it coming but figured it would be about another year, not today. Anyways once it warms up a bit more, he'll have a lot more time to ride. Even if you can't swing the deal on the Nomad, your Valkyrie is really nice bike. Just ride it untill things change.

It's only for the heating season. Most of us work 50-60 hours a week. Would be more, but DOT has rules and they charge fines to the employer.
