cycle shelter; opinions

Because of my living situation I don't have a place to garage my bike during the riding season. I previously used a cover, but dew almost every morning coated the bike under the cover. I am seriously considering getting a cycle shelter http://www.cycleshelter.com/
shown here. Does anyone have one? Does it keep out the damp air? Thanks

I have a bike barn which is very similar. It does work to keep the bike dry, but make sure that you site it so that it isn't side on to any prevailing wind. It will also be a home to any neighbourhood cats, so cover your bike with a cloth to prevent paw marks! Especially the seat in case they want to sharpen their claws on it!

I saw something like that but it had a fan and put positive air pressure inside the unit. I don't know if it came like that or he did it himself.

That looks good to me racinchef. It has a floor so I don't think animals would get in. It also says it has ventilation so condensation won't form. Then again, they will tell you anything to make a sale ::)

I have a bike barn going on 4 years now NEVER EVER had any kind of animal get under the cover.

I have a Cycle Shell and I'd have to say it is a wonderful investment. Very well made, no assembly required. My bike stays completely dust free and dry. Never has any moisture on it. It closes all the way around with Velcro as well as two metal pins and two tie loops similar to those on your helmet chin strap.

My Nomad fits in it nicely although I do have to wiggle it slightly around the mirrors.

The only complaint I have would be that the plastic bottom does deform a bit under the weight of the bike. This makes it a bit hard to back off for me since I am on the short side. I plan on adding metal plates below where the tires sit before the warmer weather sits in.

One other recommendation is to make sure you close it if you ride your bike and there is a possibility of rain. The one time I left mine open and it rained, the underside of the Shell was all wet and dripped water all over the bike when I closed it. However, the bike did dry off on its own. Very good ventilation.

I live in a townhouse and the neighbors do not mind it at all.

They are made to order and when you do order you talk to the owner of the company first.

I would definitely recommend it.

You had me wondering so I did some research, seems this is a one man operation and not a very reliable man at that.
Many complaints on the service and length of delivery time.
These were comments from 2011 so he still may be out of business for all I know.
Once the guys got the product they liked it but a real hassle dealing with the guy.

I saw this in person once. Inflatable bubble tent with floor and zippered door. Had a electric blower just like that inflatable santa ornament in your front yard at christmas. Guy had his corvette in it in his backyard because he didnt have a garage. Sat there all winter long cozy and dry.

don't know if you have room for it or are allowed to do so but I had a similar situation before moving into the new house. I lived in a patio home with no garage and a small side yard, I bought a 8' x 14' shed. It was wood frame with vinyl siding. I insulated it and put up OSB board for walls, it had two windows and was prewired with lights and outlets. Ended up having a pretty nice little bike barn. I know its not a cheap solution but if you can do it its a great solution, also gave me somewhere to change the oil and clean the bike no matter what the weather was.
