01-16-10 Breakfast ride

Yesterday BillZ, Toophun and I got together for a little morning breakfast ride. We met in the town of Maricopa, which is SW of where I live and kind of halfway between where Toophun and I are and where BillZ lives. We had breakfast at the Headquarters Cafe, which has been there for over 50 years. John Wayne used to eat there years ago. After breakfast, we rode over to the town of Eloy, about halfway between Phoenix and Tucson. The best way to describe Eloy is to picture a town after a nearby nuclear blast. Deserted streets, nothing happening. You get the idea.

We turned at Eloy and headed back toward Coolidge. Bill bailed to head west to his house and Toophun and I continued through Coolidge and back home on Hwy 87 across the rez (Gila River Indian Reservation).

While I was waiting for Toophun at our meeting place, I took this picture of the sun rising over the San Tan Mountains, which are only a couple of miles SE of my house.

It was a good ride, albeit a short one. My wife had to leave town unexpectedly to attend a family funeral in Idaho, so I had to get home to make the preparations for the Cardinals game. I think I prepared more for it than the Cards did.

Beautiful picture CJ. I was really surprised that the Saints dominated the game the way they did. I expected much more from the Cardinals. The Saints are healthy again with all of their starters playing except Grant. I hope they are clicking just as well next weekend against Minnesota/Dallas.

Ya good pic, good ride, good friends! We should have snapped one of the Indian funeral procession (casket and family riding in the bed of a pickup), that would have been culture shock for some!
