Caddmann put to the Vote
Ok... I've got my seat off, tank off, stock air filters off... ready to put my tools to work, starting the Caddmann install (and reed valve/coasters..). But I'd really like to know a head count on who actually has done the Caddmann / (remove Solnd.) and the "true" satisfaction of those in the know... Yea or Nea.

Yea!
Great modification imho. I have done the 7" K&N filter with the two plates, keeping the stock dog bowl look. I have also put the coasters on.

I have done it but not the reed valves......reed valves disabled but still in place........I both 9" spectre filters on both sides but it was too noisy.....put dog bowl back on right side spectre on left.......also installed TFI.....seems to have better performance...definyly better idle.....solenoid valves removed.....may have TFI set wrong but still working on it

Read on another sight that People are now wireing in switches to keep the solenoids in place. When the motor is cold they have the switches on and when it warms up the turn off the solenoids! Good Idea I thought. Haven't done the caddman yet , I have the Parts. Not sure I am going too !!

Caper.. sounds like you're on the fence (like me), I notice you had your TFI for sale. I guess the real question isn't so much whether to install after market filters/intake... but those pesky solnd. valves. I have a throttle lock that I use to keep the bike running when cold anyways. (my bike never seems to stay at idle when cold anyways, so I see no great loss if I remove them.)

Yea!
I did the Caddmann about 30,000 miles ago and have replaced the stock air cleaner with a 7" K&N unit. I have not removed the reed valves and installed coasters...yet.

I bought the spectre filter kit a year ago but haven't done the mod for three reasons. I don't want the noise and I don't want to give up the solenoids. Plus who would a bigger dog bowl?
My Nomad seems to have enough power for me. But I do love the TFI and the V&H pipes give it a nice sound. |

Jeez "58" what a nice bike
But in answer to your questions.... I have done the double Caddmann. Didn't remove the crossover tube. The left side was more for aesthetic change and a "balanced" look. I also went the TFI route. Marbleized and removed the solenoids . A little noisier? Ya but, I've become accustomed to it. I haven't and won't add the V&H pipes though. I've found the "debaffled stock pipes to be just right for me. I also like the look of the stock pipes. I have noticed a more responsive throttle and better gas mileage, and a much nicer ...{if I may} " deeper throat" sound. Go ahead and give it a try. What have you got to lose? You can always put it back to stock, sell off the TFI and air filters. Good luck. Where did you get the "grab bars" for the passenger???

About 3 months after I got my bike (back in 02) I bought a Thunder Odyssey air kit,
removed the cross over tube and threw away all those extra hoses and solenoids, and did remove the reed valves and installed coasters. Installed a TFI and got V&H pipes, also installed the Thunder Mfg. ignition switches It looks alot like the Odyssey and filled in the left side. Would I do it again Hell Yea!!!!!!!!!!

1/2 caddmann with K&N both sides, plugged but left in place the reed valves and solenoids are unplugged. Using Fi2000 for fuel. It's is louder being able to hear it sucking that air when you crank it.
