Unexpectedly Great MPG and a GREAT Ride!
Just got back from my weekly trip north for business. It's about 135 miles each way with freeway the whole trip. I took the Nomad this week to give it some sustained Highway miles. Since we got it on July 9, we've had one longer trip of about 400 miles and then lots of backroads touring around the area. Had put about 2400 miles on it doing that and was seeing about 33-40 MPG.
Coming back tonight, I was cruising between 60-70 MPH on the GPS depending on traffic flow on the freeway. For the trip home the Nomad got 46.47 MPG based on the GPS trip odometer and 48 MPG using the on-board trip odometer. Either way, I was very impressed. I know I could run faster, but that's a really comfortable speed especially after putting in a full day with a demanding client. The Nomad continues to delight and amaze me. During the last 20 miles, the weather was just right, traffic was light, I was locked in at 70MPH, sun was just going down, tunes playing in my helmet, cruising down the interstate, living in the USA with no one telling me what I have to do or be...heading home to a great gal...man, I was thinking I'm the luckiest SOB in the world...and to top it off, I'm on a Nomad!!! Ah yes, what a great feeling! There's definitely that "freedom" feeling when riding on two wheels. Nothing better in my opinion!

Great mpg. What performance mods have you done? I have a good friend that is able to get similar mpg out of his Nad, but my top mpg is in low 40s.

Sounds like a great ride. I love it when things just come together like that.
My best mileage was in the low 50's, but that was probably coming down from Flagstaff with a 6,000' drop so the bike wasn't working too hard. Typically, I'm in the low 40's, unless I'm on the superslab, which is 75MPH out here. That really sucks the gas.

Unexpectedly Great MPG and a GREAT Ride!
Hi Jim,
Sounds like a nice ride. With the right conditions, like a steady 60 - 70 mph {100 - 110 kmph} I've got as good as 50 mpg. {keep in mind that's Imp. gal.} It works out to be the high mpg. US. Sorry we couldn't hook up. Maybe next time. I'm around during the day most of the time.

Nice ride and good mileage. I have hit 47 for one or two tanks, many in the low 40's. The lowest is around 32 but that was superslabbing it and pushing 90 mph.

Ive had days where a good wind can either kill your mileage or give you a great distance on a tank.

MY 07 Nomad continually gets 42 mpg. That's good for me weighing in at 325 lbs. This feeling is what we all strive for..... Regards, Brick

Interesting numbers, I assume that you are on an '09 with the six speed tranny. It will be very interesting to see if those bikes continue to rack up that kind of mileage.
We are all lucky to have the freedom to do what we want when we want to do it. Thank God.

Unexpectedly Great MPG and a GREAT Ride!
You know it's funny how you can go 130 miles or so sometimes and the light comes on and other times it won't come on til 180 or 190 miles. I usually average a little over 40-45, but sometimes only 35-40, depending on how hard I run her. One time my wife and I rode one day, and I didn't run her hard at all because the couple we were riding with didn't want to go much over 50. I rode her a little hard after we split up from the other couple and on that tankful I got 48 mpgs. Thought that was pretty good riding 2-up. My wife and I and everything else in the bags are well over 400 lbs. Jamie
